A message from Clare

Good afternoon Families and Friends,

Well we made it ! Another term packed full of learning together, sharing adventures together, connecting with each other and growing emotionally, physically, socially and spiritually. We are truly blessed! To finish off the term with a sense of joy as our children sang and danced their hearts out has been perfect.

We have had the best fun today, proudly wearing our colours for the codes we love best. (I did note the team with the brown and the gold was very well represented which must reflect the calibre of the club!) Many thanks to Micaela Debney and the Year 6 leaders who ran the rotations. The squeals of delight were constant and the enjoyment very obvious as l walked around. Thanks also to Jo and Vinni who baked up a storm with the cookie dough. The children loved them and the Zooper Dooper, provided by our ever generous P&F.

Thank you to all of you- for ensuring we are continuing to build strong partnerships to support every child in our care. Thank you to the children for entering into their learning so enthusiastically. And to our staff for the rich, engaging opportunities they design and create so that our children enjoy a well rounded journey of discovery and learning.

Next term will see our Year 6 children preparing to move onto secondary school whilst our incoming new Preplings will attend three orientation sessions, supported by our Year 5 children. We are very excited that Tayla Buxton, Nina Grieve and Julianne Kelly will return from their leave. I’m sure they will have many stories to share.

It will be a full but fun term ahead so make sure you enjoy Melbourne’s gorgeous spring weather over the break.

I look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks

School Production - When I grow up

Congratulations to everyone involved in making our 2023 school performance "When I Grow Up" such a success.  All the hard work and practice really paid off.  Hopefully this will be the start of a love of theatre and performance for many of our students.

Production Night

Sports News

Last week on Friday 8th September some Year 6 students participated in the Syndal District Basketball Round Robin at Waverley Stadium. Well done to everyone for a tremendous day of teamwork and sportsmanship. Our Girls team finished 6th overall in the District and our Boys team finished Runners Up after a nail bitingly close Grand Final. Congratulations to our Boys who will progress through to Division Finals on 11th October! A huge thank you to Damien Berryman for his cool, calm, collected coaching on the day, and to all the parents who came along to cheer and support their child.

On the first Thursday back in Term 4 (5th October), St Luke’s will have 10 students competing in the Monash-Waverley Divisional Athletics Carnival at Bill Sewart Athletics Track. Participation is via invitation off the back of strong performances at the Syndal District Athletics carnival way back in Term 1. It’s been a long time between Aths events - 6 months in fact! - so we wish them all the best and will be cheering them on during lunchtime practice!

Footy Colors Day

Today our whole school was abuzz with music, laughter and chatter as our community celebrated sport in our great country. Congratulations to our fantastic House Leaders for running a successful day of footy activities and games. And a big thank you to our Parents and Friends Association for the delicious Zooper Dooper icy poles and cookies after a busy morning of activity.

What a great way to cap off another jam packed term of sport!

Enjoy the school holidays and Go Port!

School Housekeeping

LOST PROPERTY:

Please check the lost property cupboard if you are missing jumpers, jackets or food containers.

SUMMER UNIFORMS:

As we move to warmer months, we should now be wearing the summer uniform. Please apply sun cream in the morning before school.

Term 4 = SUNHATS! Please make sure your child has a school hat to wear EVERY DAY or else, No hat, No play.

CHILDREN ARRIVING AFTER THE BELL OR LEAVING EARLY:

As part of our wellbeing care of children at St Luke's, every class engages in a morning routine at 8.50 am.  This quiet, calm time allows children to gather together in a circle, to greet each other by name, to pray and/or enter into some Christian meditation and get ready for the day.  Please make sure you allow enough time to get your child to school BEFORE the student entry doors close at 8.50 am.

If children arrive after the gate and student entry doors are locked, parents/carers are required to walk their child/ren to the school office and sign them in on the VPass iPad.

If leaving early (before the end of the day), parents/carers are required to sign their child/ren out on the VPASS iPad.
