Term 4 Week 1 2024

Principal's Updates

Welcome back

Welcome back to term 4! I hope that all students, families and staff had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday break. This term is certainly going to be very busy with our school calendar already filled with a range of exciting activities planned for the school community. Activities in the first half of the term will include Grandparents' Day, the P&C Colour Splatacular School Run, Kindergarten Transition sessions and sporting clinics for cricket and basketball.

School Attendance

If your child misses school due to illness, religious reasons, family circumstances, or other reasons, remember it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before.

If your child arrives at school late or needs to leave early, you will need to go to the school office to sign your child in or out and explain the reason for the absence.

If you’re having difficulty getting your child to school and on time every day, contact the school for support.

PSSA League Tag Champions

Congratulations to our junior league tag team who won their last game of the season with one minute remaining. With this final win, the junior team were awarded joint champions for the season, what a fantastic achievement! Our senior league tag team placed third overall in the competition which is also a fabulous outcome. Thank you to Miss Jaitani for coaching the team this year.

Miss Jaitani, the school and I are extremely proud of both teams for their dedication in training and the development of good sportsmanship displayed over the course of the season.

Big Mob Day

The Carlingford Network of Schools hosted a Big Mob Day at West Head, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park yesterday, immersing students in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples histories and cultures. As part of this day, students participated in a range of activities focusing on Aboriginal practices, connecting to culture, and respect and management of local Country. Students participated in a short bush walk, with an opportunity to discover some of the engravings.

Malik and Madison said the best part of their day was bushwalking to the spectacular viewpoint from West Head and connecting with other students.

The students had a great time and were fantastic representatives of our school. Thank you to Mrs Green for accompanying our students.

Have a wonderful week.

Kind regards,

Warren Yee

Year 6 Farewell

We are excited to announce that the Year 6 Farewell will take place on Friday 13 December from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. This will be a wonderful celebration for our Year 6 students as they mark the end of their primary school journey.

The farewell event will give our Year 6 students the chance to dance with their friends, enjoy a delicious meal, and be officially farewelled by Year 5 students. Year 5 will join Year 6 for dessert and a final dance later in the evening, making it a memorable celebration for all.

More details will be shared later this term, so stay tuned! We can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with our Year 6 students and their families.

Year 6 Graduation Assembly

We are pleased to invite Year 6 parents and carers to the Year 6 Graduation Assembly, a formal event where our students will be officially recognised for completing their primary school journey.

Friday 13 December

12:00-1:00pm

During the assembly, students will be presented with their graduation certificates, and formal speeches will be delivered by the Principal, Assistant Principal, and our School Captains.

This significant occasion is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our Year 6 students and to reflect on their time at the school. We look forward to sharing this special moment with our students and their families.

Year 6 Zooper Dooper Fundraiser!

Get ready to cool down and support our Year 6 students with the Zooper Dooper Icy Pole Fundraiser! Starting in Week 4 and running every Tuesday until Week 8, our school leaders will be selling Zooper Dooper icy poles for just $1 each from the canteen. Bring your $1 coin, grab a refreshing treat on a hot day, and help raise funds for the Year 6 activities. Your support will make a big difference! See you at the canteen on Tuesdays for some icy fun!

Student Representative Council

Introducing Think Green Thursdays!

The Student Representative Council is excited to launch Think-Green Thursday in Week 3 this term, a new initiative to help our environment. On this day, we encourage all students to bring in bare food – lunch items without any plastic wrapping! By reducing the amount of single-use plastic in our school, we can all play a part in protecting our planet. So, pack your sandwiches, snacks, and fruits in reusable containers, and let’s make a difference together! Think-Green Thursday is a fun and easy way to be eco-friendly. Let’s see how green we can go!

From the Office

RPS Preschool Enrolments for 2025 are now open.

General Guidelines

Public preschools enrol children for one year only, the year before they start school.  Children can enrol from the beginning of the school year if they turn four years of age before 31 July that year.

Priority is given to:

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander children
  • children living in low socio-economic circumstances
  • children who are unable to access other early childhood settings due to financial hardship

The Principal will then offer enrolment in the following order:

  • children living within the school's catchment area
  • children living outside the catchment area but have siblings at the school
  • other applicants

For further information, please go to the NSW Department of Education link below:

Enrolment in a public preschool (nsw.gov.au)

Our office staff are happy to be of assistance with any further questions or with the enrolment process.

Change of Details

Please contact the office by email rydalmere-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au if there has been a change to any of the following to your child/children's details:

- change of address.

- change of email.

- phone numbers - mobile or home/work.

- change of emergency contacts.

- Additional/change of medical circumstances

Lost Property

Our PBL expectations of being Safe, Respectful Learners support our students in taking responsibility for their own belongings at school including jumpers, hats, lunchboxes and drink bottles.

To support your child and the school in maintaining lost property to a minimum level we ask that parents or carers clearly label all items brought to school with your child's FULL NAME.

The most common items to lost property include jumpers and hats, lunchboxes and drink bottles, and personal treasures. Students have access to lost property during the school day to search for misplaced possessions. When possible, labelled items in the lost property will be returned to students. Due to the limited space for lost property, unlabeled and unclaimed items are regularly disposed of.

Lost property is located at the front of the office.
