Principal's Report

Hi everyone,

It was great to see Yoga and Jujitsu begin again this week; I know Sarah and Trent enjoy coming to MMPS and working with our students!

You may have seen a large portable display board outside the office lately, this is a list of jobs we need completed at our working bee tomorrow! If you have some time tomorrow afternoon it would be great to see you come and take up a job to work on. We have organised a 22-degree day and afternoon tea for those who can help out. If you would like to help but cannot make it tomorrow please feel free to put your name down on a particular job and you can then complete it at a time that suits you.

Just a reminder that students will need to make sure they have their hats at school in order to be out in the sunshine at recess and lunch. There have been a few beautiful days this term already and we need to be mindful of the rising UV index over the term.

We have been very fortunate here at MMPS as an enormously generous donation of books has been received and added to our library. $600 worth of brand-new books will make a big difference to the range and variety of books on offer to students through our library. We thank the anonymous donor for their thoughtfulness and generosity!

As we approach our working bee it is important that we say a big thank you to Stuart Skene who has been maintaining our school oval and grounds by mowing and whipper snipping the long grass. The grounds are looking amazing and do so because of help from families and community members who volunteer their time so generously. Thank you Stuart!

We have a number of parents who regularly offer their assistance with maintenance/groundskeeping so if you think you would like to help out with anything in particular please do not hesitate to come and see us at the front office!

We are continuing to keep in touch with Mrs Hyland and while she may not yet be back onsite she is still working hard behind the scenes to get back to 100%. I know how much positive energy an update from Trish gives the staff and students here at MMPS so we will endeavour to provide them as much as we can. For the meantime we are sending her all our love and cannot wait to see her bright and smiling face back here at MMPS in the near future.

Thanks,

Joe.

IN TERM 4 HATS MUST BE WORN FOR OUTDOORS

From the Office

Welcome back everyone!

Well done to all the students and teachers on completing our annual swimming program last week.  This program will take place again in 2024, with dates yet to be confirmed.

WORKING BEE - Wednesday 11th October

We are hoping for sunshine on Wednesday...........cross your fingers and toes!  A list of jobs to be completed is displayed on the whiteboard at the school front entrance.  Please place your name down on a job that you are able to help with.

That's' all folks!

Well-being and Inclusion Weekly Update

At Mount Macedon Primary we adopt a whole-school approach to bullying prevention, supported by Bully Stoppers. Our goal is to actively involve every member of our community and address any concerns promptly and appropriately. This commitment ensures that we foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment.

What is bullying?

Bullying can happen at school, at home or online. It is never okay and it is not a normal part of growing up.   There is a new nationally agreed definition of bullying which all Australian schools now use:

Bullying is an ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm. It can involve an individual or a group misusing their power, or perceived power, over one or more persons who feel unable to stop it from happening.

Bullying can happen in person or online, via various digital platforms and devices and it can be obvious (overt) or hidden (covert). Bullying behaviour is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time (for example, through sharing of digital records).

Bullying of any form or for any reason can have immediate, medium and long-term effects on those involved, including bystanders. Single incidents and conflict or fights between equals, whether in person or online, are not defined as bullying.

Last week, the Grade Prep and 1 students were looking at 2D and 3D shapes as part of their week’s learning, so, I thought it was a perfect excuse to let them start using the AR (Augmented Reality) tools we have been using to make their own AR experience (oh, and learn more about 2D and 3D shapes without them knowing) Here you can see the students virtually drawing those shapes in the classroom, and now if you use one of our iPads and walk onto their class, you will be greeted with a minefield of 3D and 2D shapes to walk around, through and under. Good luck! Mr. Garcia
