From the Leadership Team

Welcome back! Students and staff have had a great start to the 2025 school year. We had some shifting of classes at the end of last year and staff have worked hard to make each classroom a welcoming and supportive space for students. We would like to welcome new staff members Abbey Leslie, Sarah Cameron, Rhiannon Hall, Chloe Allchurch and Kayla Becker who are all a fantastic addition to our teaching team. A big welcome back from maternity leave to Taylah Wood – staff and students are all very happy to have your professionalism, enthusiasm and infectious smile return.

As you walk around the school you will notice that classes have changed room numbers, hopefully as we all get used to the change it will become easier to remember and make more sense. Starting next week all of our wooden buildings will be having corporate funded work done, with new rooves, ceilings, gutters and verandas. Classes will take approximately 2 ½ weeks each and will start with Room 10, Tyler Perrotta’s Year 5/6 class on Monday 24 February. As each room is worked on, students will move into the Rainbow room (off the Library) to continue their normal learning days. This will be a bit disruptive, however we are planning to make the process as smooth as possible. The outcome at the end of the construction work will be worth it.

A reminder that on Monday we have a Pupil Free Day so students do not attend school. Teachers have professional development on the updated Child Protection Curriculum, while SSOs will complete their final module on Strategies to Manage Abuse Related Trauma (SMART). Both of these professional learning opportunities aim to continue to develop our knowledge and understanding of approaches and teachings that will support our students’ social and emotional safety and wellbeing.

This term will continue to be a busy one with NAPLAN, Swimming and Sports Day all locked in. A significant amount of planning and organisation goes into the smooth running of all of these events and we commend all staff on their efforts to ensure this happens.

Our Year 3-6 students are engaging in a Spelling and Morphology program to further develop and improve their understanding and use of the English language. Don’t be surprised if you have your children coming home and informing you of how the English language evolved and the origin of different words.

We look forward to catching up with you all at some point throughout the year and know that you will continue to work alongside us to provide your children with the quality education they deserve.

Thank you

Sharon, Kerry and Dan
