Trinity Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate the unity of God whom we acknowledge as Father, Son and Spirit. Today’s gospel reminds us that there is a seamless continuity between the different experiences of God. Although we sometimes regard the God of the Old Testament as judging and vengeful, today reminds us that God is, was, and always will be a God of love. The gospel reminds us that ‘God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son.’ Love is the characteristic of God that is experienced as Father, Son and Spirit. God loved the world into being and loved the people so much that God made a covenant relationship with them and repeatedly drew them back into that relationship when they strayed. God loved the world and the people so much that God became physically present through Jesus as yet another attempt to draw all people into an awareness of the loving relationship God desired for them. When Jesus could no longer remain a physical presence in the world, God’s Spirit became more evident to continue the work of drawing people into that loving relationship with God.
Yesterday our students from Pre-Primary to Year Six participated in the Annual Faction Cross Country. I am pleased to say that all the students ran their best and displayed positive sportsmanship and the weather conditions did not faulter their spirits. Well done to Salvatorian faction for winning the overall shield for the event. See Mrs Crees' article below for individual results from yesterday's event.
A reminder that Monday, 5th June is WA Day – Public holiday. There will be no school on this day. We look forward to seeing the students return to school on Tuesday, 6th June. A reminder that Pre-Kindy will be held on Friday, 9th June in lieu of this.
On Wednesday, 7th June, St Mary’s School will be celebrating Life Link Day. Life Link supports people in our communities who are disadvantaged and provides them with services to improve their quality of life. To raise money for this cause, St Mary’s School will be having a Pyjama Dress Up Day on Wednesday, 7th June for a gold coin donation.
This Friday, 9th of June is the Interschool Cross Country for selected students in Bruce Rock. A letter will get sent home to the parents of the selected students. We are hoping to retain the shield we won in 2022!
It is fantastic to see so many family members attend this event every term. The children love to see you here supporting their learning.
This is an important part of giving our students, parents and teachers a voice in improving the way we operate at St Mary’s School. We cannot stress the value of taking time out of your day to provide us with feedback in building a better school community, now and in years to come. All the information you need to complete the questionaire is in Audiri (Skoolbag).
Community is a key part of what we are about at St Mary’s – if students can see their families involved in the school and positive about their school, they are more likely to experience success. The positive relationships between all adults in our community including those between families and other families, staff and families, and staff and other staff set the example of good relationships for our students.
God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families,
Mr Andy DiCarlantonio
Principal
Faction Cross Country Results 2023
Yesterday we held our Annual Faction Cross Country.
The students have been working hard during morning fitness and running club to prepare for the event, and all of their hard work was evident in the wonderful performances by all students. It was fantastic to see our students displaying all of our school's values both within their running, and the way in which they cheered on the other students.
Thank you to our parent helpers and to our Year 6 students who assisted on the course and were wonderful supporters for our younger students. Well done to Salvatorians who were the faction champions on 335 points. St Josephs were a close second with 311 points, and Mackillop in third with 227 points.
