Student Success:
Congratulations to Archie and Harper who have both been named in the Hunter Basketball Teams recently with Layken being successful in gaining a place in the Hunter AFL team! What amazing sports we have in our school! A wonderful afternoon was had by all at our Easter Hat Parade last week. Thank you to all parents for coming along to support the event and to the P&C for coordinating the raffle. Students had a great day recently to celebrate Harmony Day. It is heart warming to see how students embrace diversity in our school and recognise that we include everyone regardless of background.
Leave:
I will be on leave for the last week of term and the first week of next term. Mrs Parsons will be relieving principal in that time with Mrs Milgate relieving as assistant principal for Kindergarten.
Peer Mediation:
We are introducing an exciting new peer mediation program to our playground next term. Students in Year 4, 5 and 6 have been chosen to train as peer mediators to assist students with minor disagreements in the playground. Peer mediators will undergo special training to assist students and will meet with teachers regularly to discuss issues they encounter. We are really looking forward to this new initiative in our school.
Cross Country:
Our cross country ran yesterday and it was great to see so many students trying so hard and so many other students cheering them on. The top runners for each age group will go to the zone carnival early next term. Congratulations to all students who competed.
Combined Anzac Service:
Our student executive leaders will be attending the combined schools Anzac service next week at the Civic Theatre with Ms Patrick. Our school Anzac service will be held after the holidays.
Anzac Dawn Service and March:
Our students will have the opportunity to participate in the Anzac dawn service at Speers Point and the Anzac march at Valentine on 25th April. A notification will be sent providing event details prior to the service.
Mini fete:
Our Year 6 mini fete will be held for students next Thursday 11th April. A separate note with details has been sent home via Audiri. We are looking forward to this student run event.
Happy Holidays:
The last day of Term 1 is Friday 12th April and students will return on Tuesday 30th April. I would like to wish everyone a happy, safe holiday and look forward to seeing you all after the break.
