I would like to congratulate Alanna H. and Youssef A. from Year 6 who have both been successful in gaining a position in selective high schools for Year 7 2027. This is an incredible achievement for these students, their families and the teaching staff at Telopea Public School. I am immensely proud of the personal commitment both of them have dedicated to the pursuit of academic excellence, of the teaching staff who have supported them on their learning journey and of their parents who believed in them. It is testament to the work we continue to do at Telopea, in holding high expectations for every student and in providing them with excellence in teaching and opportunity.
Youssef is a student who has been at our school since Kindergarten, and our current school captain. Not only does he display academic excellence, but he is also a wonderful role model to our younger students and a fine representative of our school at the Carlingford Network SRC. He will be performing at the Opera House later this term, learning the treble recorder to play in the Festival of Instrumental Music. He currently has 100% attendance at school this year.
Like many of our students, Alanna transitioned to Telopea part way through her primary schooling. Since joining our school, she has embraced every opportunity offered to her. She is a natural leader who goes out of her way to help others and to make our school a better place. She will have a go and try her best at absolutely anything, be it on the sporting field, during a team challenge at camp or in the classroom. She is one of our roving reporters, often writing articles for our school newsletter, as well as an avid reader. I commend her on her outstanding attitude and her willingness to embrace any opportunity that comes her way. She currently has a 98.82% attendance rate at school this year.
I hope you find these stories inspiring. As a Telopea school community, we have high expectations for teaching, learning and wellbeing and a commitment to positive outcomes for all. I invite all students and families to embrace every opportunity available to them at our school as we continue to strive for excellence.
