Rozelle is a place where Aboriginal children learned, played and celebrated their culture for thousands of years on this beautiful, natural land. As we learn, play and celebrate together on this land, we honour the Wangal people of the Eora nation and pay our respects to elders both past, present and emerging.
Rozelle has been a very busy place these past few weeks and it’s hard to believe we have reached Week Four. Our class and specialist learning programs are up and running including library, music, visual arts, chess, band, learning support and extension programs. I have visited many of the classrooms and I can report a positive atmosphere with students eagerly participating in discussions and activities, settled in their classes and school routines.
Our classroom teachers have been facilitating information sessions for parents over the last two weeks. I hope you found the presentation informative and that we provided valuable insights into our educational approach, curriculum updates, and strategies for supporting your child’s learning at home. If you were unable to attend, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher for any information you have missed. Thank you to all our families who were able to attend and for the overwhelmingly positive feedback.
On Wednesday evening, it was great to have the first P&C meeting of the year. Last year the P&C worked hard to lodge a DA into council for approval to build a shade structure over the basketball court. We have confirmation from the schools Asset team that the town planner confirmed;
• Referrals have now been received.
• Notification resulted in no submissions.
Assessment is underway, with draft conditions to be provided in early March.
Our P&C meet on Wednesday evenings, twice a term and new faces are always welcome to attend. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 13 March.
Happy Lunar New Year to families in our community who may be celebrating the Lunar or Chinese New Year. This is the year of the Dragon and the element is wood. Our pre-school and some of our classes have been learning about the Luna New Year, its symbols and the 12 animals used to represent the years. I wish all our families ‘xin nian.
