K-2 Report

K-2 students have been working hard in literacy and mathematics.

Kindergarten students are getting confident making their focus "ch" words using magnetic letters. They have also been working hard to understand the difference between teen numbers and multiples of ten by comparing them using base ten blocks.

1/2S participated in a literacy activity where they discussed in small groups if they thought the animal from the text was important or not. They made posters to represent their ideas and shared them during a whole class reflection.

1/2V have been working hard to learn their SoundWaves focus words. They completed whiteboard work to build their understanding of the sounds in words.

Student Wellbeing

Positive Behaviour For Learning

Our PBL focus for Week 1 Term 3 was Hats.

Sun smart behaviour is encouraged at Rydalmere PS and establishing good habits all year round is the key to sun safety and protection.

As we move through winter and into spring, students are reminded to wear their hats at school during their play time. If a student does not have a hat they are redirected to play under the COLA for shade play. There are many students across K-6 that bring thier hat and wear it consistently and others who may need a little encouragement and reminding more often from home and school alike. Let's work together to encourage and establish more good habits ready for the summer months.

Our PBL focus for Week 2 was Toilets

Our upcoming PBL focus for Week 3 is Office

Community Hub News

Hope you had a wonderful time during the school break. We are excited to have you back for term 3!

The Hub is planning to run a first aid course in partnership with Parramatta Community College. Are you interested in taking this fee-free course? Do you need to renew your CPR certification? Please contact Seetha to express your interest before the 10th of August.

In addition, Sydney Water is hosting a free information session at the Hub on the 1st of August. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn about their services and have all your questions answered. We will even provide a light morning tea. Unfortunately, we won't be able to provide child minding services, but we will arrange a small play corner where kids can have fun during the session.

If you enjoy crafting, we have something special for you. Creator's Meet will take place every Tuesday this term. Make sure to save the dates and register with Seetha to secure your spot.

Here is a summary of the Hub's weekly programs:

Mondays: Conversational English class from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm (Walk-in). Childminding is available only for registered participants.

Tuesdays: Creator's Meet from 9:30 am onwards (25th July, 22nd August, and 19th September).

Information session by Sydney Waters on the 1st of August.

Wednesdays: One Box Collection from 9:00 am to 9:30 am or 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm (Only for registered participants). Playgroup with SDN Children Services from 9:30 am to 11:30 am (Few spots left).

Fridays: Dance Fitness with Sophie from 9:30 am to 10:30 am (Just walk-in).

For those who are unfamiliar, I'm Seetha Srinivasan, the Community Liaison Officer at our school's Community Hub. I work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Our Community Hub connects families with each other, the school, and local community services. It's an inclusive place where parents can meet, make friends, and participate in weekly or one-off activities that are open to everyone.

Drop by for a coffee or join one of our activities – we would be happy to welcome you. If you would like to learn more about the hub and how to get involved, please don't hesitate to contact me at 0448331588 or seetha.srinivasan@det.nsw.edu.au.
