Dear Jamberoo Public School Community,
Staff Changes
As communicated to Jamberoo families earlier in the week, I have been offered and have accepted the role of Principal Staff Wellbeing Advisor with the NSW Department of Education. I am excited to embark on this new professional journey, which will commence on Monday, November 6th, and continue for the remainder of 2023.
I would like to formally announce which Jamberoo Public School staff members will be taking on the roles of relieving principal and relieving assistant principal during my absence. Mrs Samantha Galea will take on the role of relieving principal for the remainder of the year. She will be replaced on Wombarra by Mrs Carissa Castro (Monday to Thursday) and Mrs Isabel Mahoney will continue to work with Wombarra on a Friday. Miss Alpen will take on the role of relieving assistant principal until the end of Week 8. She will remain on Kookaaraa during her time in the role of relieving assistant principal.
I have full confidence in Mrs Galea’s and Miss Alpen’s ability to lead and manage our school effectively, ensuring that your children's education and wellbeing remain our top priorities.
This transition will be a shared effort among our school community, and the school is committed to maintaining the same high standards of education, safety and support for all our students. I have no doubt that your children will continue to thrive under the guidance of our experienced and dedicated staff.
Thank you for your understanding, and I appreciate your continued trust in our school's mission and vision. Together, we will ensure that the education and wellbeing of your children remain our top priorities.
On a separate note, the school is pleased to announce that a school counsellor has been appointed at Jamberoo Public School for the remainder of 2023. Mrs Olivia Blackmore will commence duties next Tuesday 7th November. She will resume the student caseload that Mr Hay had before he went on leave. I’m sure you will all make Mrs Blackmore feel welcome.
2024 Leader Nominations
Yesterday notes went sent home regarding student nominations for leadership positions in 2024. Year 5 students have the opportunity to nominate themselves for the positions of captain and vice-captain in 2024.
Speeches will be presented in the school hall on Thursday 23rd November at 10am. Families are more than welcome to attend.
House captain and vice-captain meetings will be conducted on Friday 24th November for interested students.
Presentation Day
A reminder that our annual Presentation Day will be on Thursday 7th December in our school hall. The ceremony will commence at 9:30am and will conclude at approximately 11:30am. All parents and families are welcome.
Newsletter Calendar
Please take the time to read over the Term Four calendar in today's newsletter. There are many important and exciting events coming up this term. At this stage, there are still some end of year activities that have not been confirmed. Keep a look out for the events to be added to the calendar in the near future.
Fun Day
A decision regarding Fun Day for 2023 has been made. We are excited to announce that this year the awesome students of Jamberoo will be heading off to Hoyts at Warrawong to enjoy 'Wonka' on Thursday 14th December. This will be followed by an action packed Mini-Olympics, to be held back at school. A reminder to all Jamberoo families that the school covers all costs associated with Fun Day.
A permission note for parents/carers will be sent home via School Bytes soon. Please complete the permission form at your earliest convenience so we have a clear indication of the number of students who will be attending Fun Day.

Preschool Visits
It was wonderful to have our future Jamberoo students attend our school this week during lunch time. It was fantastic to see them interact with the Jamberoo Public School students and with our unique school environment.
Thank you to Belinda and her team at Jamberoo Preschool for bringing the students to our school each day and allowing them to get a feel for life at Jamberoo Public School. We look forward to having the wonderful Jamberoo Preschool children attend again as Kindergarten students in 2024.
2024 Enrolments
If you, or anyone else you know, is planning on enrolling a child at Jamberoo Public School next year please get in contact with the school at your earliest convenience to organise enrolment forms.
Alternatively, if you know that in 2024 you will be relocating from Jamberoo and your child/children will not be enrolling at the school it is very important that you make this known to us, so we have an accurate picture of student numbers for next year. Your cooperation and communication in this matter are very much appreciated.
Regards,
Mr Chris Speirs
Principal
