Our School Expectations
At LIS, we remain steadfast in upholding the standards that foster a respectful, safe, and focused learning environment. As we move forward, we would like to remind all students and families that our core expectations continue to be a priority for every member of our school community.
These expectations include:
1. Punctuality
Students are expected to arrive at school on time every day. Being early not only sets a positive tone for the day but also ensures that learning begins promptly and without disruption. Punctuality reflects respect for teachers, classmates, and the learning process.
2. Correct School Uniform
Wearing the proper school uniform is a sign of school pride and unity. Students must ensure that their uniforms are worn neatly and correctly, as outlined in our uniform policy. This includes appropriate footwear and any specific requirements for sports or other activities.
3. Personal Grooming
Students should maintain a clean and tidy appearance, including appropriate hairstyles, minimal jewellery, and overall good hygiene. Good grooming supports self-respect and helps to maintain a positive school image.
4. Respect for School Spaces
Certain areas, such as designated no-go zones—including parts of the playground, walkways, and other restricted spaces—must be respected at all times. These rules are in place to ensure student safety and the smooth flow of movement across the campus.
5. Prohibited Substances and Items
The possession, use, or distribution of banned substances—including cigarettes, e-cigarettes or vapes, alcohol, and any form of illegal drugs—is strictly forbidden on any IEA premises. and during any school-related activities. Likewise, offensive or dangerous items, including any type of weapon or item intended to cause harm or intimidation, are not permitted under any circumstances. Breaches of this expectation will be treated with the utmost seriousness and may lead to disciplinary action.
A BAN order on e-cigarettes has been issued under the Tobacco Control Act 2016, as announced in the National newspaper on Tuesday, May 19, 2025, along with an official Gazettal notice. This legislation makes the possession and distribution of e-cigarettes illegal. Offenders may face fines of up to K100 000 for companies and K10 000 for individuals. Students and families are strongly urged to take this law seriously to avoid legal consequences.
6. Positive Behaviour and Responsibility
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and responsible manner at all times. This includes being mindful of others, following staff instructions, and contributing to a calm and orderly school environment.
We appreciate the support of families in reinforcing these expectations at home. Together, we can ensure that our school remains a place where every student feels safe, respected, and ready to learn.
Thank you
