Welcome to Week 6 of Term 1
This year the school’s Behaviour Support Management Plan has been developed and is now published on the School website for your information.

Zig Zag Public School is committed to explicitly teaching and modelling positive behaviour and to supporting all students to be engaged with their learning.
We value and strive to develop a Safe, Learning Place in a caring learning community.
Principles of positive behaviour support, trauma informed practice, inclusive practice, and social emotional learning underpin our daily practice.
As a staff we have reviewed the practices in place and after consultation with the students we have made minor changes to our “Go for Gold” Reward system and to our Playground Game Management for 2025.
Behaviour Award system - “Go for Gold”
Week 1 and 2 – 0 to 1 behaviour entry = Coal award
Week 3 and 4 - 0 to 1 behaviour entry = Bronze award
Week 5, 6 and 7 - 0 to 1 behaviour entry = Silver award
Week 8, 9 and 10 – 0 to 1 behaviour entry = Gold Award
- Note: No more than 4 behaviour entries per term = GOLD award is earned back, each term (excluding suspension cautions and suspensions)
- Diamond Pin awarded to students with 0- 1 behaviour entries ALL year (excludes GOLD award earn backs and is subject to Principal decision based on incidents.)
Playground Game Management
We are trialling a new direction for the management of playing games in the playground this year. Students who interrupt the fair and agreeable playing of games in the playground, will be given a red card, which means they will be excluded from playing organised “GAMES” for a week (rather than banning the game to all students). The students were consulted on this process and the majority feel this is a much fairer way of dealing with rule breaking, bossy and unfair play that exists in our playground.
I am very proud of how sensible, responsible and fair our students are, when I discuss behaviour issues with them as a collective group.
We are all working together to ensure our school is a SAFE LEARNING PLACE for ALL.
Kind Regards
Vicki Gillmore
