Principal's News

Dear Families

A warm welcome to 2025! It has been a wonderful start to the school year settling into our new classrooms with peers and staff and as well enjoying our Family Picnic with those who could make it on Wednesday evening - absolutely perfect weather! We’ve had an eventful start with St John’s ambulance visit, Platinum Tennis Academy sessions and a visit from some St Kilda football players and it’s not slowing down!

Assembly

Our first assembly for the year will be on Friday 21 February led by 5/6C. Assembly commences at 2:40pm in our School hall. On this date we will present badges to our School Captains, House Captains, ‘I Sea, I Care’ Ambassadors and Sustainability Stars.

Calendar dates

Please see below for all our Term 1 dates and events as well as all school closure days for the year.

Confirmation - Year 6

Parent/carer Code of Conduct

It is the intention of Our Lady of Fatima Primary School to provide clear guidelines to all parents and visitors regarding the conduct expected of them while in a school environment, engaging in school related activities or representing the school. Parents/guardians/carers and visitors are expected to uphold the school’s core values at all times. Please read the attached Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Parent/Guardian/Carer Code of Conduct that is expected with your child/children’s enrolment.

Home learning

Next Thursday, you will receive Level News providing information around the expected home learning for your child/ren at their year level.

School start time

A friendly reminder that our school gates open at 8:30am. Our classroom doors open at 8:43am with 'Getting Ready to Learn' commencing at this time. We highly encourage student independence to enter the school and get ready for the day. Please note students are expected to be in classrooms before 8.55am as our first period commences at 8:55am. The roll is taken at 8:55am.

School Policies (MACS)

Please note all Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic School policies can be found on our school website. Click on About us > School Policies - MACS Policy Suite.

nForma Portal - IMPORTANT

From Monday February 17th we are moving our communication platform to nForma. nForma is a one stop shop that will replace Operoo and Audiri for notices, newsletters, permission forms, first aid and student medical information. Parents/carers can also say when their child is away and give a reason instead of calling the office, however you are welcome to do so. In the classroom, staff will be using the nRoll feature to mark attendances. Please note that late arrivals and early departures still need to be done via the Office through our Vpass device.

Portal set up instructions were sent yesterday. Parents/carers need to log into the nForma Portal and create an account using the same email that the school has. If you have changed your email address please let us know at office@fatimarosebud.catholic.edu.au. Thank you to those families who have already set up their Portal. We hope this will streamline our communications and make it much easier for you by using only one app!

Student Engagement (Wellbeing & Diversity) Leader - Miss Tegan Senior

You may already know Tegan as she worked part time in The Hub in 2024. Tegan will be working closely with our students and staff to ensure students feel supported, heard, and valued as they grow and thrive throughout their school journey. She is committed to fostering a space where every student can feel safe, confident, and engaged.

For those who would like to speak with Tegan, appointments can be made by contacting the front office or emailing Tegan directly at tsenior@fatimarosebud.catholic.edu.au. She is looking forward to getting to know everyone more.

A quick update about The Hub: The entrance has now moved to under the breezeway and the space is open from 8:45 AM when the morning music begins. Please note that, in the interest of student privacy and safety, we aim to keep the Hub available to students only during these times. This ensures that we can provide the best environment for student support.

Working With Children Check (WWCC)

The Working with Children Check is a screening process for assessing or re-assessing people who work with or care for children in Victoria. Please know that to volunteer in schools you must have a current WWC and provide a copy to the Office.

This morning, we are celebrating our Beginning of year Mass led by our Year 6 students. 2025 is the Year of Jubilee in the Catholic church - a time of renewal and celebration! This year we acknowledge the Jubilee Year and we remember that we all have the power and knowledge to be Pilgrims of Hope. Please join us at 9:30am at the Church if you are able.

Go well
