Our first Open Day was held today, and we were delighted to welcome 10 families through our doors to see the school in action. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase our classrooms, our programs and, most importantly, our students and staff.
Our next Open Day will be held on Thursday 5th March, and we encourage you to help spread the word. If you have neighbours, friends or family who may be considering our school, please let them know.
Word of mouth continues to be our most powerful and authentic form of advertising, and we truly appreciate your support in sharing the strengths of our school community.
A sincere thank you to our teachers who stayed late over the past two weeks to deliver our Parent Information Evenings. Your time, preparation and commitment to our students and families are greatly appreciated.
Thank you also to our parents for attending and supporting these evenings. Your involvement and genuine interest in your child’s education makes a significant difference.
At a time when many schools rely solely on information flyers and digital updates, we believe it is incredibly important for families to have the opportunity to meet the people who spend six hours a day with their children. These evenings allow parents to put faces to names, gain a clear understanding of classroom expectations, and build strong, positive partnerships with teachers.
They also provide valuable opportunities to ask questions, clarify routines and curriculum, and begin the year with open communication and shared goals for student success.
We look forward to continuing to work together throughout the year.
Our Parents and Friends Committee held their first meeting of the year a week or so ago, and it was wonderful to see some new faces, particularly from our Foundation families. I warmly remind all parents and carers that you are always welcome to attend meetings and get involved.
Behind the scenes, a dedicated group has already been hard at work organising our major fundraiser for the year, a Trivia Night!
If you’re anything like me and not exactly a trivia expert, don’t worry, simply invite your clever friends along and come for a fun night out. It promises to be a fantastic evening filled with laughter, community spirit and a little healthy competition.
All the details can be found in the flyer included with this newsletter, and the event is fast approaching. Now is the time to buy tickets, gather your team, organise the babysitters, and support both the school and the hardworking committee members who have already put in so much time and effort. I hope to see you there!
Following my message in last week’s newsletter regarding the traffic concerns around the school, I can report that there will continue to be a police and council presence in the area over the coming weeks. Police will be in unmarked cars.
We ask all families to please be mindful of where you park and to strictly follow all road and parking regulations. These measures are in place to ensure the safety of our students, families and the wider community. Even a quick stop in an unsafe location can create significant risks and congestion.
The Principal of Kew East Primary School has also communicated with their school community about the importance of road safety in the area. We appreciate the cooperation between our schools in reinforcing this message.
Thank you for your continued support in helping to keep our children safe.
Round one Interschool Sport began last week against Sacred Heart and it was fantastic to see our students proudly representing the school. These opportunities allow students to develop skills beyond the classroom, building resilience, cooperation, confidence and school spirit. Whether winning, losing or drawing, the way our students conduct themselves is what truly matters, and we are very proud of their efforts. Thank you to Mr Cassell for organising and coordinating the games.
This week we are playing away against OLGC on the 27th February. Parents are welcome to attend these weekly games.
