TERM 4 WEEK 3 - 24 October 2023

Principal Update

It is hard to believe that we are in Term 4 already. Term 4 is always a busy term with lots of excitement as the end of year approaches.

This week our Year 4, 5 and 6 students will all enjoy overnight excursions. I'd like to thank the teachers who support these excursions as well as parents and carers who also make this opportunity possible for students. We are sure that they will all have a wonderful time filled with lots of fun and valuable learning experiences.

Kindergarten Transition

Today we welcome some of our 2024 Kindergarten students as they begin their transition to school. We look forward to meeting all students and their families.

School fence

The school fence still requires some work before completion. Gates will remain open and unlocked during the school day. We will inform families when there are any changes to the operations of the fence.

Semester 2 reports

This term teachers will prepare a Semester 2 report for all students. Students will complete some additional assessment tasks along with the normal assessments that take place during the teaching and learning process. Reports are sent home at the end of the term.

Outdoor Seating

Over the holidays we had some outdoor seating and sun shelters installed outside the canteen. These have been very popular with all students and its lovely to see students enjoying this new space.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week.

Sarah Davis

Deputy Principal

Welcome back to Term 4!

We have hit the ground running and our school camp for Stage 3 is underway at the Tops and Year 4 leave tomorrow for Canberra. Walking through the playground it was evident that the students were very excited about the excursions. I recognise that these camps would not occur without the many hours in the background from staff organising activities, transport and accommodation.

As camps approach, it's not uncommon for kids to worry about:

  • who they'll room with
  • ‘being left out' of things
  • whether something might go wrong
  • feeling homesick

Even the most outgoing and confident child may have a few moments of separation anxiety as the time to leave for camp approaches. School camps give our students the opportunity to experience some independence and is also a great opportunity to extend their friendship groups.

A few tips from us to get everyone through camp week:

  • Please ensure all devices with screens are left at home
  • Have your child help label and pack all the belongings they are taking to camp
  • Keep positive

I have the privilege of being able to accompany Year 4 on their adventure to Canberra tomorrow and I am really looking forward to spending some quality time with the students.

Other events coming up on our calendar soon include a Yarn Up session with our Aboriginal community on the 1st November and an Achievement Assembly on the 3 November at 2.15 pm.

I hope to see you at some of these events this term.

OUR CLASS SUPERSTARS

P & C NEWS

Did you know ??? Our school P&C runs the canteen, uniform shop and the Kitchen Garden Program. We also support school initiatives like Art in the Making and our school Musical which is happening again next year. These events were both put on hold due to covid19 but are now back on the calendar. They are a lot of work for the staff but also create wonderful memorable experiences for the students.  The P&C have managed to run this year with a small committee. We have enjoyed supporting the school and seeing the success of all things we were involved in. We would like to share our success with you and invite you to a parent/carer gathering later this term.  Keep an eye on the newsletter for more details - President Leanne Wassell.

Moruya Munchies - School Canteen

Our school canteen is looking at the final stages to have online ordering available for our families. We will be using School24 who have an easy to use app that can be downloaded through the Play store or App store.  More details to come once its ready for use.

We will also be sending out an updated canteen menu, feedback was given from the SRC that a picture menu was preferred and we have also revised our prices to make the canteen a more affordable option for all our families.

The canteen would not be able to operate without the P&C but it needs community support to remain open. We welcome any feedback you may have to help keep our canteen remain open and viable.

Kitchen Garden

The Kitchen Garden Committee will be holding a Tea Towel fundraiser later this year - more information will be sent home once all the details are confirmed.

Uniform Shop

The new uniform items will be available to order/pre-order shortly. Order forms will be sent home to families once finalised and we are very excited to see students wearing our new school uniform as the weather warms up.
