Dear Parents and Caregivers
Progressive Achievement Test Results
What a whirlwind of activity and excitement Term 4 has been already! Before getting to that, however, I would like to share some information from the end of Term 3. Between Weeks 6 and 10, students in Years 2-6 completed their Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) in Reading and Numeracy. These tests are mandated and undertaken at the same time each year. When reviewing the results of PAT testing we focus on both the growth in learning and the achievement level. Achievement targets are set the year prior as part of our improvement planning cycle and the hope is that growth will reflect that of 1 year or greater. I am very pleased to say our Crafers students have performed well in both areas. Overall 93% of students surpassed the expected achievement, many by a very long way. Interestingly, students performed better in Numeracy than Reading; this is certainly going against the trend of primary schools. Our data also shows 80% of students demonstrated a year or more growth in their learning. This is slightly misleading as there are a number of students who are excelling well beyond their year level, making it difficult to sustain the improvement across the years of schooling. If you would like to know more details about your child's performance please contact the class teacher. Our whole school community should feel very proud of these results!
Spring Fair
Speaking of the community, what a wonderful day the Spring Fair was. I would like to express my gratitude to the organisers, particularly Cara, this is no easy feat and not accomplished in a short time. I would also like to thank the families who helped, supported and assisted the children with goods for their stalls - it was delightful seeing so many of the students participate. I know I speak for many when I express my appreciation of Mark Hudson who was here for many hours working with the Band, Choir, Pam and John. Mark is incredibly generous with his time and his talent; this reflects in the performance of the students! I know there are photos and further reflection throughout the newsletter but I could not let the opportunity pass without putting a spotlight on this event.
Carpark
Yes, it's that time again for reminding. Our Kiss 'n' Drop has improved so much over time thanks to the cooperation of families and the speediness of the children. It seems to be much smoother than my early memories. Whilst efficiency is desirable, safety is non negotiable so I remind families, children are not allowed to walk through the Staff Carpark even when walking with a parent or grandparent. You will in fact see a 'No thoroughfare' sign at the carpark entry. Please go around the carpark with your children as good modelling for the time when they are walking without you. People come and go in the Staff Carpark at all times, this is not a safe pedestrian path. If you have grandparents, friends, nannies pick up your child, please share this information with them. The children's safety is paramount.
Kind regards
Chan
