Eastlakes Edition

Term 1 Week 5

Acknowledgement to Country

Students, teachers and parents of Eastlakes Public School, pay respects and acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, past, present and future who have the first connection to this land.

We are thankful for the Gadigal and Kameygal clans for taking care of the land, sky and waterways on which we learn and play today.

Together we will rise to the challenge and be respectful and responsible to care for our country.

Always was, always will be Aboriginal land

From the Principal

It has been a busy and exciting couple of weeks here at school, and I’d like to take the opportunity to share some updates with you.

This week, we have commenced our merit awards during assembly. It’s wonderful to see the students being recognised for their efforts and achievements across various areas.

Year 6 students recently had a visit from the local high school, JJ Cahill Memorial HS, where they received valuable information about the transition to high school next year. It was an informative session aimed at helping our students prepare for this important milestone.

Please note that Botany Bites is now operating two days a week—on Mondays and Wednesdays. You can conveniently place your orders online on Flexischools - see below how to order.

A big thank you to all the parents and carers who attended the Meet the Teacher afternoon. Class teachers shared lots of important information to support you in your child’s learning journey.

Our first P&C meeting for the year took place this past week. We are excited to announce that we have a new committee in place, and it looks like we are set for a very productive and energetic year ahead for the P&C.

In the coming weeks, the school will be hosting an Iftar dinner for our school community. I would like to extend my gratitude to the group of parents who attended the planning meeting on Thursday. More details will be shared soon, so please stay tuned.

Finally, I am pleased to report that our students are well and truly settled into their learning for the term, engaging enthusiastically with their lessons.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

P&C News

Positive Behaviour for Learning

Eastlakes PS is dedicated to creating an environment where everyone is respectful, responsible for their words and actions and values learning.

Positive Behaviour for Learning, known as PBL is an evidence-based whole school systems approach that:

  • addresses the diverse academic and social needs of every student to support them to be successful

  • enables the school to establish a continuum of supports that are intensified to meet the needs of every student

  • is team driven, using a problem solving approach (data, systems and practices) that engages students, parents and all school staff

  • establishes positive social expectations for all in the school community

  • provides a framework to collectively support the wellbeing of every student.

Students will be rewarded for their good choices and positive behaviour and given ‘goal’ stickers which students can place on their Goal Card.

A cumulative reward process, allows for students to collect stamps/stickers when displaying positive behaviours across the school settings, in relation to the Eastlakes Public School three school expectations.

Eastlakes Public School Expectations:

    We are respectful.

      We are responsible.

        We are learners.

Congratulations to our Class Award Winners!
