A Message from the Principal

Dear Plattsburg School Community,

We’re excited to share some updates on our focus areas in classroom learning. Across all classes, we are continuing to build strong foundations in numeracy through explicit teaching methods. By breaking down concepts and guiding students step-by-step, we are supporting every child in developing a deeper understanding of mathematics.

A key focus for us is building fluency in math facts, which helps students perform basic operations quickly and accurately. This fluency is essential as it provides a strong base for tackling more complex problems with confidence.

We are also working together under our "One Voice in Maths" approach. This means aligning our language, strategies, and teaching methods across the school so students have a consistent learning experience from class to class. This consistency helps to create a supportive and unified learning environment where everyone can thrive.

Thank you for your continued support in fostering a love for learning and growth in mathematics for our students. We look forward to sharing more of their progress with you!

A big thank you to all the students and staff who joined us on the Ninja Parc excursion last Thursday! Your energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork made it an unforgettable day. It was wonderful to see everyone challenging themselves, supporting each other, and making the most of this fun and active experience.

We appreciate your participation and are already looking forward to our next excursions together.

Our Kindergarten Orientation sessions are going wonderfully! It’s been a joy getting to know our incoming students and their families. We are excited to see them grow and thrive as they prepare to join our school community next year. We can’t wait to welcome all our new families in 2025!

As the warmer weather approaches, we are reinforcing our commitment to sun safety for all students. To ensure everyone stays protected, all students are required to wear a hat during morning play, recess, and lunch breaks. Any student without a hat will be supervised under the COLA area for their safety.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to keep our students sun-safe. Please remind your child to bring their hat and water bottle daily as we move into the warmer months.

Kind Regards,Mr Dave Hopson (Relieving Principal)

We've started planning for 2025!

If you are moving out of the area or leaving Plattsburg PS for the 2025 school year can you please let the office know on 4955 9196 or email plattsburg-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au This will help the school with their planning for 2025.

Hats And Drink Bottles

As the warmer months approach, we kindly remind everyone to ensure that students bring hats and drink bottles to school each day. Wearing a hat helps protect against the sun’s harmful rays, and staying hydrated is essential for maintaining energy and focus throughout the day. Let’s work together to keep our students safe, comfortable, and ready to learn. Thank you for your cooperation!

Paid Temporary Jobs at Federal Election

he Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has up to 100,000 paid temporary jobs available at the next federal election.

More than 9 in 10 previous temporary staff say they’d recommend the work to others – and that they’d do it again. Why not join them?

There is a range of different roles from entry-level to senior positions in metro, regional and remote areas. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t worked at an election before. You’ll get paid to train and on-the-job support.

Most jobs are on voting day, but some roles are for several weeks before or after, making it a great opportunity to earn extra money. You’ll also be contributing to your community and working as part of a team.

Many of the people who worked on the last major event, the referendum, enjoyed the experience:

‘It was an AMAZING team environment where I worked and a great vibe.’

‘An opportunity to connect with people in my community, some of whom I hadn't seen in decades.’

‘I was thrilled with my staff. Most had never worked in an election before however they were keen and happy to do any task asked of them.’

As the AEC’s role is to deliver the election with the highest levels of integrity and impartiality, you must be and be seen to be, politically neutral.

The AEC strives to have a workforce that reflects and supports the diverse community we serve. We encourage people from all backgrounds and locations to join our team, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Tell your friends and family about this work opportunity too.
