Hello,
Here we are half way through the term. When I look at the youngest group in the school, it’s like they have been here for a long time. They have all settled in so well and are gaining confidence in their abilities and skills.
This week I began my Wise Guys and Girl Wise groups with the 4/5 class. I am looking forward to getting to know these young people and I am certain that as we go through the weeks, we will watch them grow in themselves, as we empower and equip them with life skills.
This week’s topic was ‘You are Unique and Valuable’. We learnt that Everyone has been created to be Unique and Valuable. We are all a Gift to the World. We may not always think or feel this, but we all have the qualities we need to shine and make a difference to this world. As a group we reflected and discussed this. Some were surprised to really think about how valuable we truly are. We get caught up comparing ourselves with others, but we need to remember to look at our own gifts and not focus on what others are doing, otherwise we will miss the opportunities to experience our own gifts.
We talked about different qualities and our group had to think about how they see themselves and then reflect on how others see and value them. We discussed how others often see us differently and it can be hard to compliment ourselves. We found it easier to look for the qualities in others than ourselves.
Below is our list of qualities. What qualities do you see in yourself? Maybe you could talk about this with your families and share the qualities that you admire in each other:
Friendly Quiet Humorous Reserved Happy Thoughtful
Caring Creative Bright Bubbly Talkative Helpful
Organised Observant Strong Loving Studious Courageous
Gentle Punctual Careful Energetic Sporty Knowing
Loud Sensitive Beautiful Unselfish Generous Inspiring
Musical Unique Confident Imaginative Talented Responsible
