Welcome back to Term 4!
We hope you all enjoyed a restful break and are ready for the busy and exciting final term of 2025. Term 4 is always one of excitement, anticipation, celebration, and, inevitably, a few tears as we prepare to farewell our wonderful Year 6 students.
RECEPTION TRANSITION
Our transition program for new receptions begins in Week 3, starting with a parent meeting on Tuesday, 28 October. This will be followed by three morning visits, where our new students can meet their teachers and become familiar with the school environment. In addition, children currently attending Kapunda Kindy will have the opportunity to visit the school with their kindy educators.
Next year, as Miss Amalie prepares for and welcomes her own new family addition, we are delighted to announce that Nicole Lindner will be joining Chloe Allchurch as our Reception teachers for 2026. Nicole brings significant experience teaching receptions and a wealth of early years knowledge. We know that Nicole and Chloe will make a fantastic team.
CLASS PLACEMENT PROCESS
It is that time of year when we begin planning class configurations for the following year. Last week, we sent information home about how parents can share any preferences or considerations regarding class placements for 2026. Notes from parents must be returned no later than Friday 31 October for the information provided to be taken into consideration. This process is very complex, and while we do our best, unfortunately not all requests can be accommodated - sometimes requests are even in conflict with one another. To support student wellbeing, we also ask each child to nominate five friends they would like to be with, and we ensure at least one of those friends will be in their class. Staff insights and parent input are both valued in this process as we create balanced and supportive class groups.
WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY
Every year in Term 4, we celebrate World Teachers’ Day - a special opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and positive influence of our teachers. This year, World Teachers’ Day falls on 31 October.
At Kapunda Primary School, we are extremely proud of our staff, who consistently promote inclusivity, celebrate diversity, and foster a respectful and caring environment. Our teachers strive for the highest educational standards and are deeply committed to supporting every student to reach their personal best.
We also wish to highlight the strong sense of teamwork among our staff, as they support one another in their valuable work. Please join us in thanking our teaching team for all they do to make our school a welcoming and inspiring place for everyone.
MENTAL HEALTH PROJECT
We are excited to let you know that Kapunda Primary School is participating in the Department for Education’s Mental Health initiative, in partnership with Beyond Blue and Be You. This project is designed to help schools identify and proactively support the mental health and wellbeing of our students and families.
As part of this initiative, our staff will be undertaking ongoing professional development and working together to identify effective strategies for engaging and supporting families in the important and sometimes complex area of mental health. The first stage of the project involves gathering feedback through student, staff, and parent surveys. This will help us better understand the needs within our school community.
The parent survey link has been sent out via Audiri and Class Dojo, with students and staff completing their surveys over the next two weeks. We thank all families who have already taken the time to respond. Your input is greatly appreciated and will help ensure that our efforts are meaningful and make a positive difference for everyone at Kapunda Primary School.
As we continue with this important initiative into 2026, we will keep families informed and share updates on our progress and any new supports available.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
A reminder that the Pupil Free Day is on Friday 7th November. On this day staff will be involved in training in relation to the Mental Health Initiative, as well as working on our Maths Agreement and a deep analysis of PAT data.
We look forward to a wonderful final term to round out 2025.
Take care
Sharon, Kerry and Melissa
