Term 4 Wk 1 - Monday 14 October 2024 Newsletter

Principal's Message

Good morning everyone! I hope that as you are reading this, you can look back on a relaxing and enjoyable school holiday break. Although I acknowledge many parents and carers still work through the school holidays, I hope your households were a little more peaceful and laid back without the wrestle of getting children out of bed, dressed with bags packed, lunches done and off to school early in the morning. Perhaps you were even lucky enough to get away for the long weekend for a mini-break. Either way, I am sure the break has done wonders for our students and that they will be ready and raring to go for the final term of 2024.

We look forward to seeing them all again bright and early tomorrow.

P&C Fun Run this Friday from 2:00 pm

Our P&C Fun Run will be held next Friday 18 October from 2:00 pm to directly raise funds for LPS Eats - our school Canteen. Our Canteen is one of the last P&C run Canteens in the whole of the Hunter Region and we are committed to sustaining it through this period where many small businesses are closing their doors.

  • We would encourage our families to sponsor their children and ask friends and extended family to also consider donating to our Fun Run.
  • The donation is entirely voluntary and not necessary to take part in the Fun Run.
  • Students are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite character on the day. Volunteers will be on hand to help with crazy dance moves, chasing bubbles, wild water fun and cracking out their best aerobic moves.
Donations can be made
  • via the QR Code on the poster below
  • via the Events tab in My School Connect
  • or by bringing money in an envelope/zip lock bag to the office on the day.
We thank the LPS Community in advance for their support of the Canteen and our wonderful Canteen staff and volunteers who provide support to our LPS students each and every day.

End of Term 3 Award winners

Congratulations to the following students who received $25.00 Book Vouchers in our Term 3 Gotcha Draw.  The end of Term 3 draw saw an overwhelming amount of gotchas in both barrels which is the result of much hard work and effort and and we are proud of all of our students’ efforts throughout Term 3.

Gate Access after the bell

For student safety and wellbeing, the Armstrong Street gates are closed and locked at 9.05 am. The Koala gate (pedestrian gate on Croudace Street) is the only access to the school throughout the day. Thank you for supporting the safety of our students.

2025 Planning

If your family plans to relocate and you know your children will not be returning for 2025,  we kindly ask that you let us know as soon as possible.  Do you know any families considering a move to our area? Please encourage them to contact our school at their earliest convenience. This will ensure we can include them in our upcoming planning.

The number of students enrolled directly affects our class structures and planning for 2025.

The easiest way to inform us about your move is by calling or emailing the school.

School Bytes Push Notifications

Do you sometimes feel as though you’ve missed something?  Are you not getting information that you need quickly?

Then you might have your School Bytes notifications switched off. At the moment, 1 in 5 of our families are not receiving push notifications via School Bytes.

With the ability to send push notifications to your School Bytes Parent Portal, we will transition away from Audiri this term. Parents and carers are encouraged to enable push notifications within their School Bytes Parent Portal to continue to receive important news and friendly reminders  about upcoming events.

Please click here to access instructions from School Bytes to enable push notifications. This guide provides instructions for Apple, Google and Samsung devices.

Be in the know  and have your push notifications ready to go!!
