Make my Day

Last week, Mrs. Gibson had the pleasure of visiting 4T and had visitors from 2/3B, as well as attending the Ned Kelly talk presented by bushranger expert Mr. Greg Powell. She was truly impressed by the depth of knowledge and the enjoyment the students have experienced through their English studies.

Mrs. Gibson had a visit from two very talented students in K/1P, Takaiyah and Amelia. She was impressed by their use of similes to enhance their descriptions and make comparisons.

Reporting to Parents

This semester, we will be introducing new school reports. This updated format has been created by the NSW Department of Education based on feedback from parents and educators to make the reports clearer and easier to understand. Your child’s report will continue to show their progress in all subject areas. Teacher comments will be provided for English, mathematics, and in the general comment section, following department guidelines. For Kindergarten, the general comment will also include information on other key learning areas such as creative arts, human society and its environment (HSIE), personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE), and science and technology. The new reports will feature an achievement scale with descriptions to give you a better understanding of your child’s progress. If you would like to discuss your child's progress in more detail, we encourage you to contact the school and make an appointment for a parent-teacher interview with your child's teacher. We encourage you to share any feedback or questions you may have about the new report format.

School Student Survey

This term, our school is taking part in the NSW Public Schools Student Survey. The survey is being conducted by the NSW Department of Education (the department) and invites students in Years 3 to 6 to provide valuable feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. The survey will allow the department to conduct analysis and research into student wellbeing and engagement to drive improvement for all NSW public schools

 TheirCare

We have now partnered with an independent Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC) provider called TheirCare. An experienced Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) company with 495 services nationally. TheirCare was founded in 2017 and provides a stimulating and safe environment for all children in OSHC. During sessions, children develop life-skills, friendships, confidence, and creativity through play-based programs.

TheirCare's official start date is Tuesday 22nd July- 2025. An online information night is scheduled on Wednesday 25th June – 5.30pm so families can meet the TheirCare team and find out about registrations, times and bookings for the service. During this transition of Outside School Hours Care (OSHC), there will be no vacation care available for the winter school holidays (Monday 7 July to Monday 21 July [inclusive].

 CBPS P&C

Last night, we held our P&C Annual General Meeting, and I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to our outgoing office bearers: Helen Taylor, Mandy Tyndall, and Tarnia Richards. Their dedication and commitment to our school community have been truly inspiring, and we are incredibly thankful for the countless hours they have devoted to enhancing our students' experiences.

I am also happy to welcome our new office bearers who will be stepping into their roles:

 Stephanie Davies – President

Mandy Tyndall - Vice President

[Vacant] - Secretary

Tarnia Richards - Treasurer (until the end of Term 2)

As we move forward, we invite our community to consider the vacant positions of Secretary and the upcoming Treasurer vacancy. These roles are vital to the continued success of our P&C and the support we provide to our school.

Thank you once again to our outgoing members, and congratulations to our new office bearers. Together, let’s continue to foster a vibrant and supportive school community.

Mrs Gibson is currently on long service leave, enjoying a well-deserved trip to Europe. Have a fantastic time, Mrs Gibson and we look forward to hearing about your travels!

Kind regards,

Lisa Dallaway

5N Investigate Air Resistance!

This term in Science, 5N have been exploring the forces around us. Last week we had a special focus on air resistance. One of the highlights was designing and creating our very own parachutes! Students had so much fun putting their ideas into action, experimenting with different materials and shapes. We launched our parachutes and observed how they performed, comparing designs and discussed what worked best to slow them down. It was a fantastic hands-on experience that combined creativity, teamwork, and scientific thinking!

Grow Your Mind

Now that we have learnt who each of our Grow Your Mind animals are

and the valuable benefits they have for our mental health.

The next step, is to understand how to use them.

With us all returning to school this week, what better way to look after each other than by showing kindness. When we are kind, we SHRINK our Guard Dog and we GROW our Wise Owl! We are rewarded with a feeling of happiness.

How will you show kindness this week?

Understanding NCCD

Did you know the different categories of disability?

A student's disability category in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) is determined by the teacher's professional judgement, based on the evidence they have in consultation with parents, guardians and carers.

The selected category will be the primary disability that guides the adjustments made to support the student’s learning. There are four categories of disability according to the Disability Discrimination Act 1992:

  • Physical
  • Cognitive
  • Sensory
  • Social/Emotional
