Reflection

This Tuesday we will be holding a special prayer service for Mary Mackillop acknowledging her feast day.

Provident God,
With grateful hearts we remember the power for goodness that Saint Mary of the Cross is for the people of Australia.
As we celebrate her feast today, touch us anew with her spirit of charity and her generous participation in the mission of the Church. We ask this in the name Christ, the Lord.
Amen.

Greg's Message

Dear Parents and Friends of St Anne’s

It was another huge week at St Anne’s with two major celebrations. Traditionally, St Anne’s on, or around July 26, host a special Grandparents Day. July 26 is a special date as it is the Feast day of St Anne and St Joachim, the parents of Mary. And the tradition continues…The day started with a special mass, followed by visits to the library and classrooms. The atmosphere was “abuzz” as the children proudly showed their grandparents/special people their classrooms and work. The session concluded with a beautiful morning tea. My thanks are extended to the special guests who attended; the generous donors of books for our library; the morning tea providers and the parents who set up the hall, served food and drinks and cleaned up the hall. Special thanks to Georgia Nery and Alisia Romanin for their thorough and professional organisation of the morning tea.  The other significant occasion was our Year 4 Eucharist celebration as the children received Eucharist for the first time. I congratulate the students (brilliant readers) and commend them on their preparation. Thank you to Fr John, Fr Vinh and families for their wonderful support. Finally, I look forward to seeing the Year F/1 and 2/3 families at mass this Saturday at St Anne’s at 5pm.

SCIENCE DAY

Celebrating National Science Week with Science Day at St. Anne's!

Across the school this term we are learning about science and in STEM we are studying chemical science. Our budding scientists will be diving into hands-on experiments and they are invited to bring an old shirt, transforming it into their very own "lab coat," to keep their clothing safe. Please label clearly and send along with your child on a Friday over the coming weeks.

We are also excited to announce a Science Day celebration in honor of National Science Week on Friday, 18th August! This promises to be a fun-filled day of learning packed with captivating physics experiments, where students will work collaboratively in multi-age groups.

Children are encouraged to dress comfortably, and we also invite them to unleash their inner scientists! Whether they choose to dress up as a scientist or wear their "lab coat" from STEM class, it's sure to add some extra fun to the day.

Thank you,

Lauren Logue

STEM teacher

ST VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY WINTER DRIVE

St Vincent de Paul Society are once again conducting their annual Winter Drive. St Anne’s School has been an enormous supporter of this drive for many decades. Vinnies are seeking donations of warm clothing, non-perishable foods and toiletries. These donations will be distributed locally and through the East Melbourne, Richmond and Fitzroy areas that comprise high-rise accommodation that house a significant number of refugees and others experiencing severe hardship. Boxes will be placed outside the classroom doors - I thank you for your support. The final day for donations is Friday 28 July.
