Message from Julie

What a hot first week! It was a very warm start with a record high overnight temperature as we headed in to the first day. The students all managed well and enjoyed a day inside getting to know their classmates. We have welcomed our new receptions and several new students across year levels and we know that they will be welcomed in to our school community.

It has been great seeing all of our students in our school uniforms. The Year 6 graduation tops are on their way – keep an eye out for updates on Audiri. If you are updating uniform, please remember that navy blue tops and bottoms are referenced in our uniform policy, that can be found on our website. A school hat is essential – especially in our current climate.

In the week before the students came back to school, teachers worked together on planning and programming, getting things set up and participated in Professional Development on our site priorities of Math, Literacy and Wellbeing. We will share more about these over the year.

We have begun to set our dates for the year, with the term 1 key dates almost finalised, and we are continuing to work on the rest of the year. We will update the dates to remember section in every newsletter. A handy section to read and keep an eye on.

It has been lovely to meet and speak with many of you before and after school and I look forward to our continued conversations. Thanks for making Dernancourt a wonderful school community to be a part of.

Julie

School Values

We’re excited to share our new school values: Respect, Kindness, and Teamwork! These were chosen with valuable feedback from our students, families, Governing Council, and staff. This year, we’ll be working together to bring these values to life and make sure they’re reflected in everything we do—not just words on a page. We’ll keep involving students, staff, and our community as we explore what Respect, Kindness, and Teamwork look like here at Dernancourt School. We look forward to everyone being part of this journey!
