🎉 MPS NEW SCHOOL VALUES 🎉

As you know, at the start of this year our school made the exciting decision to revisit and refresh our school values. Staff were asked to share their top values, parents completed a survey, and students each brainstormed the values they felt were most important during their learning to learn in Term 1.

Through the voices of our teachers, families, and students, we were able to identify four core values that perfectly represent who we are at MPS:

🌟 RESPECT 🌟 KINDNESS 🌟 INCLUSION 🌟 BRAVERY

Students in Grades 5 and 6 were then given the opportunity to design a logo for each value. These logos will represent our values visually across the school. They’ll also be made into badges, which will be awarded alongside a certificate at assembly. Hopefully students can collect all 4 value badges by the time they leave MPS.

These Assembly Value Awards can be given by any staff member, because we believe students should be recognised for more than just their classroom achievements. Our school values aren’t just words — they are alive in every part of MPS. From the moment students walk through the gates in the morning, to the time they leave in the afternoon, these values can be seen and felt across our entire school community.

🎨 CONGRATULATIONS to our Logo Design Winners:

💪 BRAVE – Paris Hopwood (6B)

💖 KINDNESS – Mila Willick (5C)

🤝 INCLUSION – Beau Anstee (5A)

🙌 RESPECT – Billie Leatham (Staff)

A very special thank you to Billie Leatham, who also digitalised all of the student-designed logos. We’re incredibly grateful for the time and care she put into preserving the integrity of each original design.

We can’t wait to see these values celebrated across our school! 🌈

SSV State Cross Country Championships – Yarra Glen

On Thursday, 24th July, four of our talented students proudly represented our school at the SSV State Cross Country Championships held at the Yarra Valley Racing Club in Yarra Glen. This prestigious event brought together the best runners from across the state, and we are incredibly proud of our students’ efforts and achievements on such a challenging course.

Competing at the state level is a huge accomplishment, and we commend Sienna (29th), Luca (57th), Scout (33rd), and Charlie (74th) for their hard work and dedication to their training. They’ve not only represented our school with pride but also inspired their peers with their resilience and passion for cross country running. Well done to all four competitors – your school community is very proud of you!

Year 3 Snow Play Day

On Wednesday all the Year 3’s got to go to Mount Buller for snow play day. We had so much fun! My group first went to the tobogganing park, and we could have two rounds! After that we went back to eat lunch at Alpine Plaza. I saw my sister there too. She said she could buy me a donut. Back outside we went to do gnome roaming we spotted 1 and 2 gnomes hiding at the big clock, then Miss Cesarec said let’s go to the skiing place, and when we got there, I saw 3 MPS people skiing. We played in the snow, me, Gus and Rohan made Mt Buller.

Eric

All the Year 3’s went to Mount Buller to do snow play snowboarding and skiing. I reckon snow play was fun. We got to do so many things like tobogganing gnome roam and a whole tonne of other stuff. Me Eric and Rohan even made Mount Buller but a mini version we called it mini Mt Buller. My favourite thing was tobogganing because we sled done the snow.

Gus

On Wednesday 23/07/2025 all grade 3’s went on Mt Buller for tobogganing and then on a gnome roam or skiing or snowboarding. I went on a toboggan and then on a gnome roam and tobogganing was my favourite one out of them all. The funniest part in my opinion is me getting snow all over my body but also the favourite part as well.

Performing Arts TERM 3

We are having fun playing lots of TUNED Percussion in the music room to start Term 3. We use mallets to strike and roll on notes and enjoy playing familiar songs and learning new music too.  The Year 3s and Year 6s are busy working on their Musical items.  “Dinomotion” for Year 3 will be performed in the last week of Term 3. All the buddy classes and families get to come watch. More information will be sent closer to the date. Lots of students are remembering to come practise at 2nd Lunchtime if they would like more time on instruments, puppets or dance. Shout out to Seb (3A), Jayden (6A), Jax (1A) and Aceson (4B) for coming many times to practise their skills this week. This term, we will also be writing music and more drama activities across the classes.  It’s always lots of fun in our Performing Arts classes!
