Senior Centre Visit

The PP class visited the Merredin Senior Centre yesterday and we received a lovely email in return…

Good afternoon Emily

Thank you very, very much for the wonderful morning at the Senior Centre today.  Our Seniors loved it and we hope you can return as often as you would like during the remainder of the year.

Your Staff - Marissa and Elisha were so easy to interact with and the children engaged with the Seniors and were so well behaved.

They are a credit to you and St Mary's.

Thank you again for all the effort to bring them to interact with our Senior Citizens.

regards

Heather Giles, Audience McCrae and Gail Keamy.

Class News

Performing Arts

Pre-Primary

This term so far, we have been singing lots of songs and moving to the beat using all sorts of shaking, stamping, twisting and hopping. We are having lots of fun having a go at using the instruments such as shakers, tapping sticks, tambourines, bells and drums.

We have been listening carefully to sounds to work out if they are high or low, loud or soft. We have been amazing at learning the instruments of the orchestra!

Year 1 and 2

This term we have been clapping, playing and singing along to our new rhythm patterns. We have been playing instruments and learning more about the instruments of the orchestra.

Year 3-6

Our focus this Term is Drama and we have been looking at Literature in Drama. We have watched a short animation called Pip and used it’s characters and themes as our inspiration. From the animation we have created advertisements, mimes and “postcards”. We have also been going around the world learning folk dances. We are looking forward to showing off our moves at the Bush Dance on Friday night!

"Bruce - the last great hunt"

The Shire of Merredin, Cummins Theatre is hosting “Bruce- the last great hunt” on Tuesday 26th March 2024 10.30am. This show is designed for fifteen (15) years and over and will be open to both high school students and the public

BRUCE is a loveable screw-up; he’s got one last shot at redemption but, with a lifetime of regrets hunting him down, he’s running out of space-time. Created and performed by Wyatt Nixon-Lloyd and Tim Watts, this side-splitting story is unapologetic in its minimal approach. BRUCE is a non-stop rollercoaster of action, adventure, and nostalgia.

Keeping you on the edge of your seat, BRUCE will sweep you away on an epic adventure of love and revenge. He may be just a floating block of yellow foam, but BRUCE is out to prove he’s got a heart of pure gold.

From the creator of the international smash hit The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer comes a new low-fi puppetry spectacular. Get ready to blast off for an epic adventure that bends time and melts your heart. After Tim Watts’ last two Helpmann Award nominated shows (The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer and It’s Dark Outside) performed to sold out crowds and rave reviews all over the world, Watts has teamed up with Nickelodeons’ Wyatt Nixon-Lloyd for BRUCE.
