Churchlands Primary School Newsletter

Volume 58 - 24/11/2023

Principal's Message

As part of the PBS program students have been working towards a whole school Celebration Day. This is to acknowledge students for striving to achieve their personal best throughout the year. The Celebration Day started with students’ choice of sliming a few staff which, good or bad, included me! Students then had a whole lot of fun in Clubs where they could sign up to go to various activities across the school. While the sliming was incredibly gooey it was such a lot of fun!

The day was topped with the P & C Colour Lapathon in the afternoon.

We can’t thank the P & C, and so many volunteers, enough for organising a super, amazing event where it brings so many parents and families together to share a fun experience.

Enormous thanks go to the PBS team and the teachers who got slimed and to the P & C and all the volunteers, a very big thank you to Shannon Ryan and Jess Vanson for the epic amount of work pulling this altogether – great team work all round!

Students started the week so excited for this year’s Book Fair. It was such a wonderful sight, seeing the children relish the opportunity to buy a book or two. Huge thank you to the Book Fair team who always put on a spectacular event for the students and staff.

If you haven’t already done so, please RSVP to the Volunteer Morning for next Thursday 30 November. It’s such a great pleasure to have the opportunity to say a big thank you to all our volunteers who do amazing things to support the students.

 IMPORTANT

The P & C are still encountering a shortage of Executive/members (Please see the Presidents report). It is a requirement that a P & C has a fully functioning Executive, without one it will be unable to operate. We are currently facing this in 2024 without volunteers supporting various roles on the P & C. Please do not hesitate to contact Jess Vanson, President who is more than willing to provide you with further information. Churchlands.pc.president@gmail.com

Parent communication is key at CPS and we endeavour to provide targeted communication tools that align with the Departments Connect and Respect Expectations

1.    Seesaw – individual class focus

2.    Audiri – Operational communication

3.    Newsletter – for celebrations and general information.

Some classes have parent Whatsapp groups. We are conscious of ensuring we are all committed to the Connect and Respect Expectations. We encourage all parents to ensure external platforms are used as a conduit to communicate with other families for general class related items. If you wish to raise concerns, it is important to discuss with this with the class teacher or the principal to ensure we can support you with a positive outcome.

The 2024 School Development Days (Pupil Free) have been set and approved by the Board. Please see our webpage for the dates.
