November 2025, Term 4 Week 6

A Message from the Principal

Term 4 is flying by, and it is hard to believe we are already in Week 6. Our school is buzzing with activity as we continue building towards two of our biggest annual community events Christmas in the Gully and Presentation Day. These celebrations bring our whole school community together, and we look forward to making them memorable once again.

This term, I have continued strengthening our pathway with Callaghan College Wallsend Campus (CCWC). Next week, our K–2 classes will visit CCWC for their high school tour and library time. This is an exciting opportunity for our younger students to build familiarity and confidence for the future. There will be many more opportunities as we move through the rest of this term and into next year.

A huge thank you to all students involved in the SRC for their efforts with fundraising, including cookie cooking and Favourite Colour Day. We also had a very busy and fun week with Crazy Hair Day and Splash and Dash. It was wonderful to see how much our students enjoyed these activities and how positively they engaged.

Our commitment to student wellbeing remains central to everything we do. Each day, teachers are continuing strong wellbeing programs in classrooms and linking these with our school values Respect, Independence, Empathy and Connecting. These values guide our behaviour expectations and underpin our positive school culture.

I would also like to express my gratitude to our community for your ongoing support of our fundraising initiatives this term. Your contributions help us provide engaging learning and wellbeing opportunities across the school.

Next week, our Year 2 students begin their Learn to Swim program. As the weather continues to warm up, please remember the importance of bringing hats and drink bottles every day at Plattsy to stay sun-safe and hydrated.

As always, if you require clarification on any upcoming school events during this busy time of year, please contact the office.

Regards,

Dave Hopson

Child Safety Handbook

“ NSW Police Legacy Child Safety Handbook Together with our partners NSW Police Legacy has been producing the Child Safety Handbook for over10 years. The Handbook aims to raise awareness about risks to children and steps that can be taken to protect and keep them safe. The Handbook has the support of the NSW Government and of the NSW Governor, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Patron of NSW Police Legacy. The intent is for all primary school students in NSW aged from 5 to 7 years old to receive a digital copy of the Handbook. All costs associated with the production of the Handbook have been met entirely through sponsorship, and as such will be at no cost to your students or school. I fully support the Handbook and hope that you could assist us by distributing it amongst the parents and guardians of your students.”
