Term 4 Week 1 and Week 2 - 13th - 24th October 2025

Principal's Blog

Welcome Back to Term 4!

We have started the term strong, with 253 students attending school every day in Week 1. Attendance is vital to learning success, and we thank all families for their ongoing support in ensuring students are present and ready to learn.

A big congratulations to Class 2M for continuing their winning streak by earning the attendance award this week! I look forward to hearing your bell song soon.

This week, two classes participated in the LMCC Biodiversity workshops, gaining valuable insights into our local environment.

We have also begun our Drum Corps program for students in Grades 3 to 6. This promises to be a wonderful opportunity to learn drumming, have fun, and develop teamwork skills. I’m excited to see their performance at the end of the term.

Later this week, our Year 6 students will visit Canberra. I know they will represent our school with pride, and this excursion compliments the learning they have been doing in class. I sincerely thank Mrs McLean, Mrs Nebauer, Mr Lane, and Mrs Davis for giving up time with their families to support this important experience.

Upcoming Parent Workshop and P&C Meeting – Week 3

On Monday, 27 October at 4:30 pm, we will hold a follow-up parent workshop with Marion, our Real Schools facilitator. Marion is providing invaluable support to our teaching staff by helping to build a restorative school culture.

This is an excellent opportunity for parents to stay after the workshop and attend the P&C meeting at 5:30 pm. It would be wonderful to see new faces supporting the committee members who dedicate many hours to supporting our school.

During the session, you will learn:

  • How Caves Beach Public School is building resilience and positive relationships.
  • Strategies that both parents and our school can use together to develop resilient young people.
  • A deeper understanding of how Restorative Practices are used to build a strong, relational school culture.
  • Ways the home environment can best contribute to raising confident, respectful children.

Here’s to a successful and enjoyable Term 4!

Fundraising Raffle Now Open – Support Nyikina Mangala Community School

Earlier this year, Caves Beach Public School reached out to remote Aboriginal communities to learn more about their culture and school life. We’re proud to share that Nyikina Mangala Community School connected with us, and we’ve since formed a meaningful partnership, beginning to learn from each other’s diverse community.

As part of this growing connection, we’re now raising funds to help Nyikina Mangala Community School install a shade sail, giving their students a safer and more comfortable outdoor area for learning and play.

We invite all families and community members to get involved in our fundraising raffle.

🎫 Tickets: Just $5 each! The more you buy, the more chances you have to win one of these fantastic prizes:

📅 Raffle closes: Thursday, 6 November at 3pm.

Bio Diversity Workshops

This week, students from 4T and 1/2H took part in a School Grounds Biodiversity Workshop as part of the LMCC Sustainable Schools program!

They explored the plants and animals that make up our local environment and learned how to care for the habitats around our school.

Students enjoyed hands-on activities, identifying native species and discovering ways to support biodiversity right here at Caves Beach Public School. It was a wonderful day of outdoor learning and environmental action!

Mural

Yesterday, we celebrated the unveiling of our stunning new mural, created by the incredibly talented Daniel Joyce. This beautiful artwork captures the wonder, curiosity, and spirit of our students and it has already brought so much joy to everyone passing by. Throughout the day, we watched students stop to admire the mural, pointing out the details and imagining themselves as part of the scene.

A huge thank you to Daniel Joyce and to our Year 6 students for this wonderful gift to the school community. It’s a lasting legacy that will brighten our Stage 3 floor for years to come.

Grow Your Mind

As we near closer to our busiest time of year, we might feel tired and stressed. It is extremely important to look after our mental health and the people we care about by being MINDFUL.

We are better friends when we can regulate our emotions. Use the TRAFFIC LIGHT to stop and BREATHE, then use your SENSITIVE OCTOPUS to THINK about how to be kind and compassionate. Then ACT in a thoughtful and caring way.

Environmental Group

The Enviro Group were excited to get back into the veggie garden after the holidays. Thanks to the wonderful sunny weather and Mr Forbes helping Miss Heap to keep it watered over the break, the garden is flourishing. Students feasted on the last of the snow peas and were excited to take home plump beetroot. They had fun pulling out parsley that had gone to seed and watering the garden from our rainwater tanks. Students planted corn, beans, zucchini, cucumber, lettuce, thyme and coriander. Miss Heap made some frittata with our silverbeet and brought it in for students and staff to try.
