As we reflect on term 1, we are filled with such pride at the remarkable progress and engagement displayed by our students. It has been an incredibly busy yet immensely rewarding period of learning and growth across the school.
Throughout the term, we have witnessed a high level of student engagement that has truly been a pleasure to observe. Our classrooms have been buzzing with enthusiasm, curiosity and a genuine love for learning. Our students have already had ample opportunities to be engage in exciting learning experiences including: excursions, aquatics, Footsteps and technology incursions.
One of the most inspiring aspects of this term has been seeing our students' resilience and determination in overcoming challenges. Whether it was mastering new concepts, participating in extracurricular activities, or adapting to changes in learning environments, our students have shown incredible adaptability and perseverance.
Term 2 promises to be just as busy and just as rewarding. However, there will be some staffing changes.
I am off on long service leave for term 2; travelling to Mexico for my step daughter’s wedding, recovering before heading off on a European holiday. I look forward to returning and boring you all with stories of my adventures. Fortunately, the Department has appointed Chris Tippett, currently Principal Consultant for Noarlunga 2 Portfolio, to take my place. Chris brings a wealth of experience to the role as he has not only been a principal, but has had the rare opportunity to work alongside many principals in our area. I know he is very much looking forward to being at Reynella and discovering for himself why we are an amazing school.
Sarah Bradbury will be continuing her role in the Department for Education and will not be returning to Reynella. Sarah made a significant impact on many children and families across our school. She streamlined our approach to inclusion and developed many strong connections. Her presence will be greatly missed but she is now in a privileged position where she has the opportunity to make a positive impact across many primary sites thus making a difference at a systemic level.
Fortunately, the wonderful Mr Anthony Parina has been appointed for the remainder of the year.
Cinzia Giglio is still recovering in a rehabilitation facility and Emelia Marra will continue in her class for at least terms 2 and 3 at this stage. Despite this Ms Giglio is in high spirits and looking forward to eventually returning to Reynella as she misses us all greatly.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable break, and we look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another term of growth and success.
RESPECT
As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all students at Reynella PS, we want to remind everyone of the importance of following proper procedures when addressing instances of bullying or harassment.
It is crucial to understand that approaching other people's children directly to discuss or address bullying or harassment issues is strictly against departmental policy and is not permitted. This includes speaking to the child involved, their parents, or any other individual directly related to the incident.
Instead, we ask parents to contact the school immediately if their child is experiencing bullying or harassment. When you contact the school, our team will work with you to understand the details of the situation, investigate the matter thoroughly, and take appropriate action in line with school and Department policies. We are committed to providing support to both the victim and the perpetrator through a restorative approach to ensure a fair and respectful resolution.
It's important for us as a school community to address bullying in a manner that educates, empowers and promotes positive behaviour among our students. By working together, we can create a safe and inclusive environment where all children feel valued, respected and able to thrive academically and socially.
