The Brush Telegraph

Week 1 - Term 3, 2024

Message From The Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

I would like to welcome you all back for another busy term. We have many exciting upcoming events - keep your eyes on the calendar for save the dates.

Education Week

Education Week will be celebrated in Week 3. Public Education Week is a time for all of us to feel ‘Proud to belong’, sharing our pride in being part of NSW public education and the achievements of our students and staff. Education Week is when we celebrate and acknowledge all those who contribute to our children and young people’s educational journey. School staff, parents and carers, community leaders and P&C associations all play an important role in our students' education.

Families are invited to join us to celebrate the work of our students and enjoy a picnic lunch on Thursday 8 August at 11.30am. A BBQ lunch will operate for students and their families.

Book Week

We will be celebrating Book Week in Week 5. It is always a lot of fun and very colourful. Students and staff love the opportunity to dress up and use their imagination. Everyone is welcome to join us at 9.30am Tuesday 20 August, for the Book Parade and Book Fair. This year’s theme is ‘Reading is Magic!’  We look forward to seeing you.

Attendance

Our whole school attendance rate at the end of last term was 89.1%. Let’s keep up the fabulous effort and hit 90% this term. We will continue with our fortnightly student attendance awards, acknowledging students with an individual attendance rate of 90% or higher.

Annual Concert

The Wingham Brush Annual Concert at the Manning Entertainment Centre will include trips around the world, corny clues, questionable characters, a little bit of mystery …… and a whole lot of 80s! More clues will be given about our 2024 theme at the Education Week event in Week 3. In the meantime, keep the date free of Wednesday 11th September at 6pm. Stay tuned families!

Wingham Museum

As part of the Past in the Present History unit, 1/2G visited the Wingham Museum. Students saw many antiques including typewriters, record players, horse drawn carts and a bed pan. Discussions around how people used to communicate, did day to day tasks, such as shopping and even how they cleaned their clothes, all took place during the tour. Life sure has changed significantly in the last 50 years.

WBPS PSSA Representative Sport Update Week 10, Term 2

Over the last few weeks of last term, WBPS proudly had students trial or race in PSSA Hunter Regional events. Ari trialled as the Manning Zone Goal Keeper at the Hunter event. Chad raced in the regional cross country and came a creditable 18th. Molly trialled in the Hunter Netball and also raced in the regional cross country and smashed out 5th place. She is off to the NSW Cross Country event!

PSSA Representative Sport Update

Yesterday Molly travelled to Sydney to represent Hunter at the NSW Cross Country event. She finished the race well. Congratulations Molly! We are extremely proud of you and your achievements.
