From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Parent Webinar

My apologies again, for the mix up with the time for our ‘Building Resilience at Home’ webinar on Tuesday. Please use this link to the recording to view the webinar, hopefully parents will get something out of it, with regard to practical strategies to practise Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness (GEM) at home.

The Student Resilience Survey

Next week, as part of our Wellbeing program ‘The Resilience Project,’ all students from Grade 3 – 10 will undertake ‘The Student Resilience Survey.’

The Student Resilience Survey is an anonymous online survey which collects, analyses and reports the resilience of young people. It incorporates six international gold standard measures of mental health: life satisfaction, hope, coping, anxiety, depression and connection to nature. Specifically, the survey reports against nine domains of resilience: Positive Relationships, Social Skills, Understanding Self, Safety, Health Mind and Healthy Body, Learning Engagement, Positive Attitude, Positive Values, Positive Contribution.

The Student Resilience Survey has been administered to more than 900,000 young people aged between 7–19 across 3,500 schools globally. The results provide a foundation for planning and implementing targeted resilience building initiatives at our school.

We will use the data collected from these surveys to provide areas we need to focus on through our Wellbeing Program for the remainder of the year.

For more information about the survey, please visit https://www.resilientyouth.org/surveys .

WORK READY PROGRAM

The module on 'Professional Documents’ continued this week. Topics covered include Curriculum Vitae (CV), application letters and interview skills. These are lifelong skills that will assist trainees when applying for jobs.

Also this week, the module on ‘Meeting Performance Expectations’ was covered. Performance expectations are requirements of an employee including expected results, behavior and actions. These are commonly documented in contracts, job descriptions, company policies and performance management documentation.

GUEST SPEAKER

We were privileged to host Mr Tino Hombi – Lead Community Relations - SP - Land Access, Resettlement, as a guest addressing the WRP trainees. Mr Hombi emphasized on workplace cultures and how to change their behaviours and attitudes to meet workplace expectations.  His presentation complemented many of the topics covered during their training and the trainees expressed great satisfaction in their reflections. We extend our thanks and appreciation to Mr Tino Hombi for speaking to the trainees.

The current WRP trainees will complete their training on Friday 27th March 2028.

Kind regards,

Mr David Wengip
