BIRTHDAY ICE-BLOCKS | If you are bringing in ice-blocks to celebrate your child's birthday, please ensure they are FULLY FROZEN prior to the day. This will avoid disappointment when handed out. Additionally, please do not bring in ice-cream packs, as we have a number of students with allergies.

Getting to know Miss Lydon | We are excited to introduce to you our new Stage One teacher! We welcome Miss Noelle Lydon to the Balmain family! As of this week, 1/2W is called 1/2L, namely 1/2 Llama! Miss Lydon has relocated from Ireland, where she has been teaching for many years. She has experience in K-2, both in Ireland and as the 1/2 Lasange teacher last year! She loves using her creativity through art and investigations. She is also passionate about yoga and meditation and is an avid reader! Reading is Magic after all! Miss Lydon prioritises student wellbeing and first joined the Balmain family last year, after specifically teaching wellbeing to students in schools across Sydney. She is very grateful to be using these wellbeing tricks in the classroom everyday! Miss Lydon is always happy to help and have a conversation, so don't hesitate to introduce yourselves!

PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING! We're collecting plastic bottle lids for a special project. Please wash and dry instead of recycling. There is a collection box in the foyer, outside the office. Thanks so much for your help!

SPOTLIGHT ON...

3/4 ELK!!!

This Term, 3/4E participated in the Potato Olympics! We were inspired by the amazing performance of the Australian Olympic team and thought we would have a go at being Olympians ourselves, with one major twist; we would be using potatoes! Our first step was creating a name, background and country for our starchy Olympians. Then we started creating them; we used textas, pins, bits of fabric and other materials, to make our Olympians look amazing. After that was finished, we needed to create the Olympic village, we brought in cardboard boxes from home and added decorations, paintings and accessories, to make the village feel alive. Once we stacked them on top of each other, they looked fantastic! Now it was time for the sports! We played three sports - archery, gymnastics and weightlifting - it was a lot of fun and we even learnt some maths along the way!

SOCCER...

From our players (and unedited)...

Junior A

Captain Jasper G

Junior A Today we went up against Orange Grove Public School and beat them 4-0. Hamish, Sunny, Ethan and Zac scored goals. James is player of the game because he did a lot of saves and a lot of passing. He also tried hard this week. We could work on passing and not taking long shots, communication and working on our corners because the other team normally gets the ball.

Junior B

This week we played Orange Grove public the score was 6 - 2 their way we tried our best, the MVP was Brandon he scored one of the goals and was goalie the first half.

Captain Emily K

A Grade

We played our best but the other team scored a lot of goals in the first half. In the second half they scored way less goals and our defence and offence improved. In the end I’d like to give the mvp to James .

Captain Kai M

Senior A

The game was okay, and there was room for improvement. Our teamwork could have been better. We lost 3-0 and the MVP goes to Ethan Zhuge.

Captain Trevor L

Senior B

Captain Henry T

Senior B played extremely well, winning a tight match against Orange Grove in which the score was 1-0, Balmain way. The first half was filled with corners, and we failed to score from the corners. However, in the second half of the game, Andy Z scored a fantastic goal. Man of the match goes to Aki P, for playing exceptionally well in midfield in the first half, and saving many possible chances.
