On Friday 2nd August, we competed in the mixed/boys Regional competition in Benalla. We had to win all of our games in Division to get to Regional. Our team has been training since the start of Term 2 and have puts lots of work in as a team. We left school at 8:15am. Once we arrived we started warming up to get ready to play Cathedral College, Wangaratta.
Our game started at 10:00am and it was one game only, winner goes to State!!
We were off to a hot start, able to get a strong lead in the 1st quarter. We held our lead and fought until the end of the game. We all played so well as a team and displayed great sportsmanship. The total score in the end was 32 – 4. WE WON!!!!!! We have made it State, which will be held on the 18th September at the Waverly Netball courts. We are really proud of our efforts and supper excited about State!!!!

On July 23rd all year 3’s went to the Botanic Park to plant trees for Landcare. We discussed the boundaries of where we should go or not, then we separated into two groups. The first group were playing on the playground and the second were tree planting at Fords creek. We left school at 11:45am and came back at 1:45pm. It was a long walk there, but we saw some interesting things. The people from Landcare’s names are Rhiannon and Jess, first they taught us how to crack the pot that holds the plant inside it. Some tools we used are shovels, spades and trowels. We had a competition for what group could plant the most plants. The first group planted 67 plants, and the second group planted 77 plants. Group 2 were so excited that they won but they still congratulated the first group. We made a long snake out of the pots. We planted grasses, shrubs and water plants on the side of the bank. Thank you to Landcare for letting us plant trees for the environment and a big thank you to the parent helpers for coming, the teachers and Rhiannon and Jess! We loved the tree planting and the playground!

On July 23rd the year 3’s went to the Botanic Park to plant trees for Landcare. The idea is to plant trees and shrubs and grass on the bank of Fords creek to help the environment. We had a competition for who could plant the most trees. Thank you to Landcare for letting us plant trees with you. We split into two groups. The first group went on the playground and the second group did tree planting. They said it was really tiring. Group two planted 67 and group one planted 77 trees. It was nice that Landcare gave their time to plant trees with the year 3’s. They told us how to crack a pot and get the soil out of the pots. We made a pot snake. If you don’t know what a pot snake is, it’s when you get all your pots and you make a big tall tower and then you pick it up and put it on its side so then you have your pot snake and you can have a competition with your friends.

As you can see in the photos our students are enjoying the use of some gorgeous new additions to our library. These beautiful quilts have been made with care and consideration by the Beolite Sewing Group. Their donation to the MPS library is a lovely touch to keep the kids wrapped up warmly in their love of reading!!
Judy Ankers organised and assisted in the sewing group and you can see their amazing skills. There is a lovely family connection to our school via Grace and Rose Ankers who attend MPS.
We are so lucky to have an amazing community that supports us in looking after our wonderful students in such a colourful and warm way.
