Incursions and Excursions
We have had some amazing incursions and excursions over the last fortnight.
Love Food – Hate Waste – this organisation worked with all of our students looking at how to reduce our waste with a focus on lunch boxes. Our classes got to make beeswax wraps and learn all about waste free lunch box ideas.
Indigenous Food and Weaving – Our Year 3 & 4 classes went on an excursion to Heritage Park in Mullumbimby last week where they were guided by Aunty Delta Kay around the park, and they learnt all about local Indigenous food sources. Following that, they did some basket weaving. Although it was a little wet, the student learnt so much!
Dorroughby Education Centre – Today we have had Dorroughby Education teachers working with our Year 5 & 6 students, learning all about sustainability. They will be completing a food waste and water audit.
All of these incursions are setting the platform for our Project Based Learning units next term. Thanks to the teachers that have organised these engaging lessons.
Easter Hat Parade
It is always great to see the amazing creations that our students (and parents) come up with for the annual Easter Hat Parade. We had egg braids, bunny ears, hair nests, paper mâché, baskets … the list goes on.
Sport
5 a Side Soccer Gala Day
We have 27 students attending the Pottsville 5 A Side Soccer Gala tomorrow. This is set to be a great day with our teams playing four games each. Parents are more than welcome to attend. Please check school bytes to ensure you have signed the permission note and paid for the bus.
Cross Country
Our school will host the Cross Country on Thursday 11 April. We are super excited! Sigge has mowed the track, and our students will be able to practice on it in the coming weeks! The canteen will be searching for helpers for this event over the next few weeks.
School Bytes
As many of you will have read, we are trying to streamline our office procedures by using School Bytes to pay and give permission to excursions. We are aiming to move away from paper notes. Within this app, you can also log student absenteeism, pay school fees and check your child's attendance - all with the click of a button. If you are having trouble using the app or signing in, please let us know so we can follow up your concern with School Bytes.
Staffing
The back of end of this term there will be some staffing changes due to leave.
Staff Member | Replacement | Time Frame |

Kelly Maternity Leave
We are both excited and sad to be seeing Kelly start her maternity leave next Wednesday. We are wishing her all the best! Latifah will join our school support staff, with a new timetable being created to start in Term 2.
Coffee Mornings
Our coffee mornings are running again this term. Each even week Zoe (school child pysch) and myself are out the front to chat and have a cuppa. Drop in and say g'day. We can just generally chat about life or if you have specific question regarding your child's wellbeing, we are here for that too!
School Motto
Thank you to those parents who have completed the school motto form on Audiri. Due to staff leave we will finalise this process by the end of Term 1 and have it open to community feedback at the beginning of Term 2.
End of Term 1 / Start of Term 2
Where has it gone? The last day of Term 1 is Friday 12 April. This is a mufti day and also our school ANZAC Ceremony.
The start of Term 2 for our staff is Monday 29 April and students return Tuesday 30 April.
ANZAC Dawn Service
At this year’s Brunswick Heads Dawn Service we are fortunate enough to have all three of our captains giving speeches and our choir singing. It would be great to see our school community at this event. It is held at the Cenotaph on Fawcett St. Students are required to wear full school uniform.
