A Publication of Rydalmere Public School

Term 3 Week 7 2023

A warm welcome to our latest newsletter, a window into the busy world of Rydalmere Public School. I begin with heartfelt thanks to our dedicated staff, whose unwavering commitment shapes our students' growth and success. To our parents, your consistent support at our school events is truly appreciated. And a thank you to our students for embracing our PBL values of safe, respectful learners who belong.

We wish all our dad's, grand-dad's and special friends a Happy Father's Day for Sunday! We hope you have a chance to celebrate this special day with your loved ones.

SASS Appreciation Week

Next week is School Administrative and Support Staff Recognition Week, a time to acknowledge and thank the often unsung heroes in our public schools. A heartfelt salute goes to our School Administrative and Support Staff (SASS). Your essential contributions ensure our school's smooth operation every day!

During SASS Week, 4-8 September, we acknowledge the essential work of our support staff members across the school. Our SAS staff play an important role in the school community. They are often the first people you see when you enter our school and are essential to maintaining positive relationships with students, parents and the community.

SAS staff work in school offices, in classrooms and libraries and maintain and care for school grounds and buildings. They are often the ones to tend to students when they are unwell and they ensure the efficient management of school financial and administration functions.

Roles range from supporting students with their learning, to working in our amazing Administration team and our General Assistant - just to name a few! We thank our wonderful team of support staff for all the work they do for Rydalmere Public School Community. See our lovely SASS team below!

2023 Book Week

Last Wednesday we celebrated Book Week with a colourful and lively book character parade. RPS teachers have said that the 2023 book character parade was the best yet! Well done to all the students and staff who participated.

Thank you to Mrs Townsend, Mrs Gimissis and Mrs Arnott who organised our Book Week events this year.

P&C Annual General Meeting

On Monday 11th September at 7pm, the school P&C Annual General Meeting will take place in the school library and we will be planning for the rest of this year and into next year in relation to school events. I would like to invite all interested parents, especially parents new to the school, to join us and play a part in our school and community activities for the remainder of this year.

An important part of the meeting will be the election of the P&C executive as all positions will be declared vacant. This is an excellent opportunity to become involved with a new P&C executive and team. I look forward to catching up with you in the library on Monday, 11 September.

We'll have some tea, coffee and biscuits so please come along and get to know some of the other parents in our school.

Celebrating Collaboration: AECG meeting at our school

Rydalmere Public School recently hosted a gathering for teachers in our district in collaboration with our local Barramutta Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG). This initiative strengthens our commitment to inclusive education and enhances our understanding of Aboriginal perspectives.

About AECG: The Aboriginal Education Consultative Group is a vital platform for educators to learn, share, and advocate for culturally sensitive and relevant teaching practices that honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Teachers had the privilege of participating in this gathering, which focused on exchanging insights, resources, and strategies that contribute to a more inclusive curriculum. By engaging with AECG, we enhance our ability to create a supportive learning environment that values diversity.

Together, we continue to champion educational excellence that celebrates diversity and promotes unity.

Tell Them From Me from 4 September

Our school is taking part in the Tell Them From Me Parent Survey. The survey will provide us with valuable feedback on our parent’s/carer’s perceptions of their child’s experiences at home and at school.

Schools in Australia and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help them improve. The survey is completed on-line and is run by an independent research company, The Learning Bar, which specialises in school-based surveys. Staff in schools will not be able to identify individual parents/carers from their responses.

This survey is a complete evaluation system for measuring student engagement, wellbeing, classroom climate and other factors known to affect learning. Information is captured from students, parents and teachers to inform school policy and practice.

The survey opens from 4 September. Follow the link below to begin the survey.

Cumberland Connected Communities Leadership Day

We are delighted to share a recent event that brought together our school's captains and vice captains at Burnside Public School. This event was part of our involvement in the Cumberland Connected Communities (CCC) initiative. Our student leaders had the opportunity to engage with high school leaders from Cumberland High School and peers from other primary schools, contributing to their personal growth and leadership development.

What Happened: Hanin, Anabella, Razvan and Mitchell participated in a day of workshops, team activities, and discussions. They collaborated with students from different schools, learning from older peers who offered insights and strategies to enhance their leadership skills.

Expressing Gratitude: We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Burnside Public School and Cumberland High School for organising this meaningful event. Our student leaders' active participation shows their dedication to personal growth and their commitment to making a positive impact within our school community.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also recognise the significant role CCC plays in fostering connections and promoting excellence across our schools. Together, we cultivate future leaders who are poised to make a difference.
