The Preps have slipped right back into school routine and have had a busy few weeks. In English we are learning to write a descriptive sentence about a non-fiction character. We are practicing phonetically sounding out words, using capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. We are also continuing to practice reading Decodable texts. In Maths we are looking at Positional Language (behind, above, next to etc), Capacity and counting forwards to and backwards from 20. In Science we are learning how things move (spin, bounce, slide, roll). In Media Arts we are exploring close ups, long shots and medium shots. Swimming has also started, and the children have had so much fun learning to be safe in the water. We are now beginning to look forward to moving into Year 1 next year and will begin having some play breaks out in the main school yard. Please enjoy some recent photos of the Preps!
Enrolments:
It has been so lovely meeting all the families that are currently enrolling for 2025. A reminder that it is important to have your enrolment paperwork back to us as soon as possible so we can organise an enrolment interview before the end of the school year. Please call the office at your earliest convenience to organise the correct paperwork and a time for an enrolment interview. If you are moving or not returning in 2025 could you also please let the office know ASAP.
I look forward to meeting all the new enrolments and their families over the coming weeks. If you have any questions, please contact the office on 55401111.
Behaviour
We’ve had an increase in the number of incidents on the oval at play breaks. These incidents involve inappropriate hands-on behaviour. A reminder that we do not accept this type of behaviour at our school and students are to be safe, responsible and respectful of each other at all times.
Attendance
We started the Term off with a slight decrease in attendance but we have improved over the last few weeks. Well done! I understand that some students have been absent due to illness but some students are absent due to birthdays or having a shopping day, these reasons are not acceptable. Our average school attendance is sitting at 85% which means students are missing key learning opportunities. If there are barriers getting your child to school, could you please reach out and speak with your child’s class teacher or contact the school. We’d like to support parents and students to ensure attendance is a priority.
The graph below shows the class with the highest attendance for the term. They are in the running for the end of term pizza party.
