Nhamirri Walal,
What a fantastic year we have had at NPS!
As we look back on 2025, there is so much to celebrate. We have been fortunate to have an incredibly positive, supportive and dedicated group of staff, wonderful students, and a proactive and generous parent community. Thank you so much for your contribution to our school; it is felt every single day.
This year brought many highlights: improved NAPLAN results across both cohorts, a wide range of local, intra-state and interstate excursions, more targeted interventions than ever before, students selected for interstate school sport and Tournament of Minds, free swimming for Years 1–6, and an ongoing stream of special events, learning opportunities and memorable experiences. The only reason we can achieve so much in a small remote town is because of the goodwill, creativity and collective effort of our whole school community. Thank you for making NPS such a special place.
As we tie off the year in this final week, I also want to acknowledge and thank the families and individuals who supported our SRC food drive, and everyone who took part in our graduation ceremonies, concerts and Student-Led Conferences over the past fortnight. These events were incredibly well attended, and the staff who organised them did an exceptional job. Many hours went into ensuring their success, and I am very grateful to each of them. Our students, of course, are the reason we do what we do, and they made all of these moments absolutely worthwhile.
Tomorrow night we celebrate our Year 6 Graduation, followed by the unveiling of the Year 6 mural. We will wrap up the school year with our final send-off assembly at 1:30pm on Thursday, and I hope to see you there as we farewell our year 6 students and send everyone off for a well-earned break.
Finally, as the year draws to a close, we will also be farewelling some valued staff members. I would like to thank each of them sincerely for their contribution to NPS and for the positive impact they have had on our school. I’d particularly like to acknowledge that this is Gabby Henderson’s last year with us. Gabby has been a valued member of our teaching staff for the past three years. We are so grateful she stayed for an extra year before heading off to new adventures, and we know she will be an asset to her new school in Queensland.
Thank you again for a wonderful year. I wish all families a restful break and a safe, happy holiday season.
Parents, please note that school resumes for all students on Thursday, 29 January 2026. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another great year at NPS.
Warm wishes,
Rachel Blundell
