Term 3, Week 9 2024

From the Principal

Wow! What a term! We have had a super busy Term 3 which has just flown by and I'm sure it will be Christmas before we know it! As we wrap up Term 3, I would like to invite families to join us at our final assembly for the term on Thursday 26 September from 1.45pm, to listen to our very special guest speaker, Timothy McLaren OAM. Tim is an OAM recipient, an Olympic medallist in rowing, and in 2023 he was inducted to the Sport Australia Hall of Fame. Tim has coached the UTS Rowing Club, mentoring Australian representatives and Olympians, as well as serving as the head coach of USA Rowing. We look forward to hearing more about Tim's experiences and perhaps even seeing some real life Olympic medals!https://sahof.org.au/hall-of-fame-member/tim-mclaren/

During the school holidays please help us keep our school in tip top condition by reporting any security concerns to the School Security Unit on: 1300 88 00 21. The school playground is open to visitors as a part of the Share our Space program and we ask that visitors take care of the playground and equipment when visiting.

If you're able to help out with the school chickens during the school holidays (letting them out and locking them up, collecting their eggs, and checking on their food and water), please let Mrs Arabin know.

Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable school holidays and we will see staff and students return to school on Monday 14 October.

PLC Shared Learning at Bowning Public School

Students enjoyed a fabulous day of shared learning last week at Bowning Public School enjoying circus with Mrs Facer, STEM with Ms Kemp & Mrs Cassidy, and science with Mr Godman. They got up close and personal with some of Mr Godman's prized fishing catches learning about the anatomy of fish as well as native and protected species, and feral/pest species of introduced fish. Students loved participating in the circus activities with some requests for some more circus equipment at school, and I did overhear a few students exclaim that they would be joining the circus when they grow up! It's been wonderful watch the growing friendships shared with students across the three schools.

Teachers worked together to learn more about effective assessment and participated in some writing assessment moderation, as well as learning more about the new mathematics curriculum and effective pedagogy. Thank you to Mrs Ranie, Mrs Brown and the Bowning team for organising such a fabulous day.

P&C News and Updates

P&C News and Updates

Dear Parents and Community Members

The P&C Association is gearing up for a busy and exciting September, and we need your support to make our events successful. We have our much-anticipated Bobbara Hill Walk on the 8th of September, which is a great family day out.

We have also been asked by the Binalong Community Club to assist with catering at the upcoming World Sand and Green Championships from Friday 27th to Sunday the 29th of September

We are in need of volunteers at both events, to help with meal preparation, serving of meals, setting up and packing down.  All funds raised at these events will go straight back into supporting our kids through resources at school or excursion opportunities.

If you are able to assist at either of these events please reach out to us at  bpspac@gmail.com or Liesh Cotter - 0466 913 209

We would also like you to save the date for the Murrumbateman Field Days which are happening on the 19th and 20th of October. This is one of our major fundraisers and we will be calling out for volunteers on those dates as well.

P&C Bobbara Hill Walk Round Up

We couldn’t have asked for a better day at the Bobbara Hill Walk but it wouldn’t have been a success without the following people:

✨ Jeremy, Bobbara Station Manager. Thank you for being so accommodating and supportive of this event.

✨ Bowning Lions Club, for running the BBQ again. You are sensational!

✨ Binalong Rescue Squad - VRA Rescue NSW for providing First Aid.

✨ DeSigns by Joe - Signage & Design for our flash new event signage.

✨ Our P&C team and volunteer families who work tirelessly behind the scenes to pull it all together.

The money we raise at these events goes back into our school. We are currently making some upgrades to our outdoor cola area, we’ve purchased some new classroom resources, there are outdoor resources to come and next term we will be subsidising the outdoor education camp to Jindabyne.

🙏 Thank you for your support & to everyone who came out, we hope you enjoyed the view! 📷
