A Prayer for the School Day
Dear Lord,
We thank you for each new school day and everything it has to offer.
We ask that you give us the strength and courage to enter our day with positivity and an eagerness to learn.
Guide us through each lesson and help us understand complex topics that may come our way by giving us the grace we need to remember and retain the knowledge.
As we come together from different environments, please help us to respect each other’s differences and work as a team towards academic success.
Give us patience and grace when we face challenges in class and equip us with the tools needed
to find solutions. Let us be united no matter the situation and never fear being wrong in our answers.

We look forward to our Father's Day Stall next Tuesday 1st September. We ask families to purchase tokens through Flexischools to assist with the smooth running of the stall on the morning.

This year’s SJB Father’s Day Brekkie will be held on Friday 4th September from 7:30am. We look forward to welcoming our Dads and special people to celebrate our Dads and the important role they play in our students’ lives.
There have been reports of head lice in the middle and senior schools.
Please check your child/ren's hair and treat if necessary.
The Victorian Government recently introduced a Little Angler's kit initiative for Grade 5 students.
Interested families of Grade 5 students have collected their kits, but we have some kits left over - if you think your family would like a kit to share, please collect from the office. As each kit contains fishing hooks, for safety purposes we ask families to collect their kit from the school office.
At St John the Baptist we strongly value our partnerships with our families and the importance of open communication. To continue our strong partnerships we have introduced an Optional Parent Teacher Interviews in Term 3. The Optional Parent Teacher Interviews may be booked by families or requested by your child’s class teacher, should they feel that it is important to meet with you.
Optional Parent Teacher Interviews will occur on Wednesday 16th September between 3:30 - 5:30pm and will be held in classrooms. Year 5/6SJ will have their optional interviews on Wednesday 26th August due to members of staff being on Long Service Leave in Week 9 and 10.

Families are reminded that should you have a PSG for your child that this takes the place of the Parent/Teacher Interview.
This September our Year 3/4 students will attend an overnight camp at Camp Allambee in Gippsland. The camp will be held in Week 9 of the term with the students departing on Thursday 10th September and returning on Friday 11th September.
This is an exciting time for our students as they prepare for their first school camp.
Families will have received an nForma form to complete in preparation for camp.
To celebrate the end of another terrific term of learning and work we have scheduled Friday 18th September as Footy Day. The students can come in their footy colours from any football code for the day. We look forward to a fun day of activities, as well as a special Footy Day lunch.
Further information will be shared in the near future.
Week Two of our Zones of Regulation lessons have brought us learning about the Zone colours and matching that to energy levels. For example, Blue Zone is sad/tired/sick feelings, which are low levels; your body moves slower and less often (as shown in the colour meter picture here). If you would like a copy of the Zones of Regulation Poster to use with your family at home, please email me and I will happily give one to you.
