Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a wonderful start to Term 4 at Beerwah State School, with students quickly settling back into routines and re-engaging in their learning. Our classrooms have been calm, focused, and full of energy, reflecting the hard work and commitment of our dedicated teaching team.

I have enjoyed visiting classrooms each day and speaking with students about their learning goals and recent achievements. It’s always a joy to see the pride our students take in their work and the way they support one another as learners.

Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with our School Improvement Coach and to participate in a regional leadership collaboration with our School Supervisor and local principals. These sessions have focused on reflecting on our progress towards our 2025 Annual Improvement Plan and preparing for the development of next year’s priorities. I look forward to sharing more about these directions as we finalise our 2026 plan over the coming weeks.

Year 5 Camp – Stanley River

Next week, our Year 5 students will be heading off to Stanley River Environmental Education Centre for their much-anticipated school camp (Wednesday to Friday). School camps are such an important part of the learning journey, providing rich, hands-on experiences that build independence, teamwork, and resilience.

Beyond the exciting activities and adventures, camps strengthen the connections between students and staff, allowing relationships to grow in new and positive ways outside the classroom. I know our students are eagerly counting down the days and I’m sure they will return with wonderful memories and stories to share. A huge thank you to the staff attending camp for giving their time and energy to make this experience possible.

Day for Daniel

On Friday afternoon, our school will hold a special assembly for Day for Daniel, led by our Student Leaders. This important national day raises awareness about child safety, protection, and the importance of speaking up.

We encourage all students to wear red to show their support for this meaningful cause. Thank you to our Student Leaders and staff for organising what will be a thoughtful and engaging assembly that reinforces our shared responsibility in keeping children safe.

World Teachers’ Day – Friday 31 October

Friday, 31 October, also celebrates World Teachers’ Day, a special opportunity to recognise the incredible work of our teachers and the difference they make every day in the lives of our students.

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful teacher aides, who hosted a celebratory breakfast on Wednesday morning, for staff to mark the occasion. Their generosity and thoughtfulness are deeply appreciated.

I also invite families to take a moment to reflect on the positive impact that teachers have had both in your own lives and in the lives of your children. The care, creativity, and dedication our teachers bring to their work truly make Beerwah State School a special place to learn and grow.

School Review – Week 6, Term 4

Our School Review will take place from Wednesday 12 to Friday 14 November. During this time, a team of experienced reviewers will visit classrooms and meet with staff, students, parents, and community members. The process provides an opportunity to celebrate what we are doing well and to identify key priorities for the years ahead.

We warmly invite parents and carers to take part by sharing your insights with the review team when they are onsite. Your voice plays an important role in shaping our school’s next steps.

Community Connections

It was fantastic to see so many families at the recent Beerwah Spring Fair. The event was a great success and a wonderful showcase of our local community spirit. A huge thank you to our P&C for their efforts in coordinating the school stall and to all the families who stopped by to say hello.

We have also continued to strengthen our connection with Beerwah State High School as our Year 6 students begin transition activities to support their move to high school. It has been lovely to see the enthusiasm of our students as they prepare for this exciting new chapter.

Looking Ahead

As we move further into Term 4, our focus remains on finishing the year strong—celebrating achievements, consolidating learning, and preparing for a smooth start to 2026. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement; it truly makes a difference to our students and staff.

Together, we will continue to uphold Beerwah’s proud motto: Strive to Excel.

Warm regards,

Mrs Nicola Worthington

Acting Principal

HODC Report

Day for Daniel

Each year we participate in Day for Daniel. Today marks the 21st Day for Daniel and is an important opportunity for us to teach students about safety and protective behaviours. Well done to our student leaders who ran our assembly.

English units

This Term students across the school are learning to:

· Read, view and comprehend a narrative text

· Create a written narrative (recount/retell in the lower grades)

The complexity of texts as well as how ‘comprehend’ and ‘create’ changes throughout the grades. This includes the literary and language devices children use as well as the nature of the text. Students in Years 3-6 are engaging in a novel study of a chapter book. Here are some examples of the learning walls that are being developed by classes throughout their learning of their units this term.

Incursions and excursions

We have some very exciting incursions and excursions coming up.

We look for incursion/excursion opportunities that value-add to our curriculum delivery in the school. Upcoming ones include:

Term 4, Weeks 1-5 and 7-8 à Swimming (Years P-4)

Term 4, Week 5 à Year 5 camp

Term 4, Week 6 à Swimming Carnival (9 year old and selected 8 year old)

Consent and payment information currently available on QParents

When we have details confirmed for each of the incursions/excursions, they will be released through consent management on QParents.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden

This term, Year 1s have been exploring our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden. Today students planted some flowers to attract pollinators, plus they made Tomato, Bacon and Cheese Slice in the kitchen with salad using ingredients from our very own garden!

We have also started a Garden Club at second break on Fridays. Students are enjoying working and helping our garden grow.

Student Services

At Beerwah, the Student Services team meets every second week to discuss how best to support our students’ learning and support needs.  Sometimes students’ needs are identified on enrolment or through our moderation process and other times individual student needs are identified by teachers.

Classroom teachers may discuss student needs with parents and carers and if necessary a referral will be made to the Student Services team.  If this is necessary, a green permission form will be sent home, explaining the process and we encourage you to complete the questionnaire on the rear of the form to help us to understand the needs of your student more clearly.

Our team are currently running an intervention program focussing on supporting students requiring additional support in the areas of phonemic awareness and phonics.

P&C Report

P&C Meetings

Our final meeting for 2025 will be on Monday 17th November (week 7, term 4) at 6pm in the school library. We try to meet on the third Monday of each month during term time. If this changes, notices will go onto Facebook and Audiri.

Our discussions include school policies and decisions, fund raising ideas, community connections, and so much more. Come along to join in or just listen. Coming to a meeting does not make you a member.

Volunteering

Our P&C is managed by volunteers, our tuckshop is run by volunteers, the bookclub, all events, fundraising activities are all run purely by volunteers. We need more volunteers to help make these amazing things happen. Drop in to the next meeting to see how you can help. Just do one thing to help.

The P&C Association are an approved volunteer organization with Centrelink (Services Australia) so if you need to complete volunteering hours, the school is a great option. This can be extended to grandparents and other friends, they will need to apply for a Blue Card to volunteer in the school which is an easy process we can assist with. Contact us by email and we can arrange to work out how we can help each other.

Facebook Page

We try to keep our Facebook page very active with all our notices here along with the Audiri app.

If you haven’t already jumped onto our Facebook page, you should. It’s a great place to see what’s coming up, what volunteers are needed & helpful reminders in case you missed the notification. We’ll also share our tuckshop specials and any meal deal information, so if you don’t see the posts, you might miss out!

It’s also the easiest place to get in touch with P&C.

Just find our page and like us to start following. BSS P&C Facebook page

Events & Fundraising

Thank you to all our volunteers for making the stall at the Beerwah Community Spring Fair a success.

Entertainment Membership

Although it wasn’t long ago that the term started, the holidays will be upon us before we know it. If you’re staying local, or if you’re going away, check out the Entertainment website to see how you can save in hundreds of venues and attractions by purchasing a membership.

The P&C receive 20% of the purchase price for each Entertainment membership sold. Have a look at their website: www.entertainmentbook.com.au for current offers. Don’t forget to find Beerwah Primary P&C Association as your referral so we receive our contribution.

If you have any ideas for new fundraising initiatives, come along to our next meeting to share them. Alternatively, you can email P&C anytime on pandc@beerwahss.eq.edu.au

Book Club

Our current book club coordinator will not be available in 2026 so we are looking for a new coordinator. Put your hand up now and you will get a fantastic handover throughout term 4 to make your new role in 2026 seamless. It only takes a few hours each month and can be done from home.

It’s a great way to give back to the school community as the commissions raised from book club sales go straight back to buying books for the library, for all our children to enjoy. Get in touch if you are interested pandc@beerwahss.eq.edu.au

TUCKSHOP

All meals in our tuckshop are made fresh and are nutritious and delicious for our students. Tuckshop is the best place for your child to try new foods as they are more likely when their peers are eating the same. Opening their eyes to new flavours has so many benefits for their health and wellbeing, and for their entire life.

This term, to save time, and packing a few extra bits & pieces, why not order a meal deal? For one price of $10, your child will receive the weekly special, an Anzac cookie, choice of drink, and either a fruit salad or veggie sticks with dip. Just one click and it’s a full packed lunch – perfect for busy parents.

We are always looking for volunteers to help Sarah out, please get in touch if you have availability. pandc@beerwahss.eq.edu.au

UNIFORMS

New school uniforms are available from The School Locker in Maroochydore.

Ordering is online or in-store, it’s so simple and convenient. Plus, by setting up your free Student Advantage Membership online, you will access special members pricing where applicable.

If you are uncertain of the size you require, one of each size of polo shirt and dress will be available in school to try on. Appointments need to be made in advance, please email janie.bssuniformshop@gmail.com to arrange an appointment.

The P&C have some second-hand uniforms available for sale at drastically reduced prices depending on the condition. Contact Janie at the above email address if you would like to have a look at what’s available.

If you have school polo shirts and dresses that are too small, or if your child is leaving school, please drop in your uniforms to the school office as we will happily re-sell to another family who can use them.

With limited volunteers and fundraising opportunities, this is one avenue that will help all families, and the P&C Association.
