Welcome Back
Welcome back to Term 3! I was lucky enough to spend most of last week chatting with kids, being in class rooms and playing at recess and lunch. This term we welcomed seven new students into The Pocket family across a variety of classes. It always warms my heart to see how our children engage with new students, inviting them to sit with them at lunch, being a support in the playground, offering help with learning tasks in the classroom...it is wonderful to see!
Staff Professional Learning
Over the next few weeks our teachers will be heading to a variety of teacher training days with our VoSS colleagues as they review the Project Based Learning unit from last term, engage in professional learning and plan for their next learning sequence. We also have staff attending "Understanding ADHD" training throughout this term.
Our school have implemented a new attendance, wellbeing and student finance platform called School Bytes. Our school office staff have done an incredible job learning the new system. They will be attending training through this term to learn more about the platform so there may be some new faces in the office from time to time.
Absenteeism
We all know that regular attendance at school is essential for students to achieve quality life outcomes. We understand that children get sick or have appointments during school time, if your child is absent please inform us via email, phone call or through the Audiri app.
As the school moves to our new student platform, School Bytes, you will start to receive email reminders regarding attendance. Once you have registered for the parent portal you can respond to the absence through the portal.
Opportunity Class (OC) Placement Test
We have five students from Year 4 heading to Alstonville High school on Thursday to take place in the OC test to gain access to Aurora College in Year 5 & 6. They will be sitting a Mathematical Reasoning, Reading and Thinking Skills Assessments. We wish they the best of luck!
