Congratulations and well done to both the Student Leadership team and Room 6 for hosting our recent assemblies! Room 6, your performance is one of my favourite songs "Going on a bear hunt" and you performed it so well. I could watch you do this over and over again!
A massive thank you to the P&C and parent volunteers who continue to support our award winners with a morning tea for them and their parents/carers. This is very special for our fortnightly award winners.
Our Year 3-6 students participated in the Faction Swimming Carnival. We had a very successful event with many champions, runner up champions, great sportsmanship and Parnka took home the shield. Well done to all the students and staff who took part in the carnival. Such an event would not be successful without our amazing parent helpers!!
I thank our student leadership group for running such an organised ANZAC DAY Remembrance Service during week 10 of Term 1! It was a privilege to have Michael Smith, a representative from the Pilbara Army Regiment speak to our NPS community. Each class made and were able to lay a wreath at the flagpole as a sign of respect for our past soldiers. Then, Ava, Tinbite and Dean joined in with the Community dawn service and represented NPS with pride.
We welcome back Darrielle Batchelor-Hirama – Special Needs Allied Professional who has returned from maternity leave. Darrielle is working across our Early Childhood and Junior Grades.
We also welcome Michael Munro to our team for this term. Michael is part of the Department of Education’s flying squad. Michael is doing an amazing job across all year levels and jumping in wherever he is asked. Yes, I am trying to talk Michael into staying with us!!!!
This term, our staff have been undertaking many different Professional Learning opportunities including Graduate modules, Talk for Writing and Kindergarten Pre-Lit. I thank all staff for their continued professionalism and hard work they put in for all our students.
We held our Interschool Swimming Carnival during week 2. The competition was fierce, and the sportsmanship was outstanding. Congratulations to those students who won the champion or runner up champion in each of the age groups. A massive congratulations to South Newman Primary School who was the overall winning school for 2025 by 12 points.
A massive thank you to our wonderful P&C who have recently held a Mothers’ Day/carers day at the school. The children were very excited to attend and enjoyed the experience of “independent shopping”. Fantastic effort to our dads that volunteered to run the stall over the 2 days. We hope everyone all had a special day!
As the weather is cooling, the mornings at school are becoming a little chilly. I encourage all families to purchase a school jumper from Sports Power as described in our uniform policy. If another jumper is needed in the interim, a mostly plain black jumper is the most suitable. Please put your child’s name on their clothing items.
Our school is continuing its journey with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). PBS provides a continuum of support to build relationships with students and guide the implementation of evidence-based practices to improve student academic, behaviour and social and emotional learning outcomes. Newman Primary School’s values are: Be Responsible; Show Respect and Strive for Success.
Coming up next week is our Colour Fun Run. If you have not set up your child’s profile page, there is still time. Join in the fun of the whole school event on WEDNESDAY 28 MAY, 1:30pm on the school oval. Remember to wear a white shirt to school on this day.
Newman Primary School is committed to providing quality education to all students in a safe, inclusive and caring learning environment. We value working together with parents and families as critical partners in student learning outcomes. Effective communication is the key to building a positive relationship between home and school and plays an important part in the education of your child. You should feel confident that we will listen and respond to your concerns and effectively manage and resolve complaints.
We look forward to the upcoming weeks!
