Prayer Celebration - Prep Gold

Please join Prep Gold in the Hall on Friday at 8.35am as they lead prayer celebrating Pentecost.

Pentecost was the moment in history after Christ had ascended. It was at that moment in Pentecost where the spirit came, and he empowered the early believers, specifically the apostle. Penetcost signifies the moment Jesus’ loving Church began.

Prayer Reflection

The short gospel passage for today is taken from the final words of the gospel of Matthew. It is known as ‘The Great Commission’ as Jesus is portrayed commissioning his disciples to go out to the world and spread the good news. They are charged to ‘Go, therefore, make disciples of all the nations.’ This is the basis of much of the missionary work of the Church that has gone on ever since then.

How does your local community seek to ‘spread the good news’ to others?

What are some of the actions of being a witness that might speak louder than words?

What is happening in Religious Education in Year 4?

Check out the Year 4 co-inquiry wall as students infer the purpose of miracle stories in the New Testament. Jesus’ miracles are quite controversial actions that occur throughout his ministry, yet it is important for readers to recognise that these miracles were used to make specific theological points. Each gospel writer wrote the miracle stories to reveal Jesus identity in light of the religious traditions from 1st century Judaism. Students in Year Four have started developing their co-inquiry wall by gathering evidence to determine what a mircle story is and where they are located.

Laudato Si Week

In classes this week, all students have viewed the clip  Laudato Si

Laudato Si Week commemorates the Anniversary of Pope Francis’ first encyclical, Laudato Si’. The encyclical is an open appeal for dialogue and conversation about the future of our common home — a home we all share, regardless of faith or ideology.

Each class has reflected on the Catholic Social Teaching Care for Our Common Home this week and has established some achievable goals in response to Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si.

The Preps established goals in response to Laudato Si.

-          We are doing an emu parade after the second break each day to pick up any rubbish left around.

-          We are only using scrap paper for our drawings, no white paper.

We are turning the lights off when we leave the room.

Learner Dispositions

We are really focussing on being respectful learners at the moment.  We are taking the time to reflect on the ways we work with others, how we show that we see the learning of others as important, and how we can negotiate with others when problems arise.

Being a Respectful Learner

Year 1 Rescue Helicopter Excursion

Last week 1 White visited the Capricorn Rescue Helicopter. The students delivered letters to thank the staff who work at the helicopter for caring for their friend. We also donated the money raised from our disco and donations of family and friends. The year ones asked LOTS of questions and learnt about the helicopter.

Buffy: We had to stand behind the two yellow lines to be safe.

Ruby: They had to go on a job so we went outside and saw them take off.

Holt: We got to go on a really fancy bus.

Skyla: We looked inside the helicopter. There were so many buttons.

Vance: There are over 1000 buttons inside the helicopter. They rescue a lot of people off yachts.

Maverick: We had a photo taken with a big check.

Henare: We saw a practice helicopter.

Reid: The doctor is not allowed to fly the helicopter. The pilot flies it. The doctor helps the people who need help.

Arlo: On the top of the helicopter and on the bottom is a “cookie cutter” which can cut the power lines if they fly near them so that the power lines don’t get caught in the propeller
