Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We have had a wonderful start the new term.

  •  Recognising the School Leaders in their confidence in their roles in Term 1 Celebration Assemblies.
  • Acknowledging the efforts of Eli G and his swimming achievements.
  • Our wonderful student, staff, and community participation in the ANZAC service at West Wallsend.
  • Finding a new ANZAC garden near the hall with school flags now being able to fly and be seen.
  • Acknowledging outstanding attendance of identified students and staff in Term 1.
  • Welcoming some new staff to our school.

A key focus for Term 2 is student attendance. In the Semester 1 Reports coming out in week 10, all parents will be given their child’s attendance percentage for the semester. Our school slogan for attendance is “Be a STAR (Strive to Attend Regularly) student!".

Each week we will be announcing and celebrating the class that had the highest attendance rate. Term 2 Week 1, congratulation to KH with an attendance rate of 96.8%. They were closely followed by 2M who achieved 95.9%. KH can now choose a special reward for their attendance achievement.

As a school we are looking forward to seeing our attendance rate increase. Research highlights a clear correlation between student attendance and the achievement of quality academic and socio economic and health outcomes. The research tells us those students with an attendance rate below 90% are educationally at risk.

We have our monthly P&C meeting on Tuesday 9th in the school library where new faces are welcome. We also have a Mother’s day stall organised by our fabulous P&C and a special morning celebration and display in the hall for our precious MAGS (Mothers, Aunts, Grandmas and Special others).

Make the most of the awesome moments!
