All the information you need to complete the questionaire is in Audiri (Skoolbag).

Parking

Please be reminded that the front carpark is only for families who have students in Pre-Kindy, Kindy, Pre-primary and Year One.  If this doesn’t apply to your family then please use the carpark behind the school as we don’t want the front car park to become congested. Principal’s Message

The way students conduct themselves is important in achieving their full potential. Every individual represents themselves, their family, their friends, their class and their school. As students reach the end of the term and become tired, it is crucial that they maintain the high standards and expectations set by their families and our school. This will help them finish the term positively and proud of themselves. Please discuss the St Mary’s School Code of Conduct with your child and the 12 key statements on page 4. The Code is available on our website at the following link: https://www.stmarysmerredin.wa.edu.au/procedure/code-of-conduct-2022/

God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families.

Mr Andy DiCarlantonio

Principal

NAIDOC Week Free movie, popcorn and ice-cream.

As part of the 2023 NAIDOC Week Celebrations the Shire of Merredin in conjunction with Orana Cinemas Merredin and Collgar Renewables will be running two free sessions of the Movie "The Last Daughter" based on the book of the same name by Brenda Matthews during the first weekend of the school holidays.

The movie is about:

Brenda Matthews is a proud Wiradjuri woman. She lives with her husband, Mark, in Bundjalung country, Queensland. Brenda is a mother, a grandmother, a sister, a daughter and an aunty, a poet, a writer, a speaker and co-director of the feature film, The Last Daughter, a documentary of her life.

An unmissable First Nations memoir that tells of the shattering experience of being stolen, The Last Daughter is a story of heartbreak and healing that offers a path forward for all Australians. When Brenda Matthews was two years old, she and her siblings were taken from their parents. For the next five years she was a much-loved daughter in a white family, a happy child in a country town on the outskirts of Sydney, unaware of the existence of her Aboriginal family or how hard her parents were fighting for her return-unaware of her Aboriginal identity. Then, she was suddenly returned to her Aboriginal family, the last daughter to come home. Decades later, feeling a sense of something missing in her life, Brenda searches for her foster family and her beloved white sister, with whom she had had no contact. Along the way she uncovers long-buried secrets and government bungling, as well as a deep connection to family and to her Aboriginal culture. The Last Daughter is the story of Brenda's journey to discover the truth about her past, to unite her two families-and to foster a better connection between black and white Australia. It's a story full of heartbreak, love, hope and healing, one that shows a way forward for all Australians.
