Nhamirri Walal,
**Hot off the press** (and we couldn't be more excited), Mr Mac's soccer team, featuring many of our wonderful 2025 Year 6 students along with Oliver Wearne and Vasco Tan-Grilo this year, has just won Pool B at the NT Soccer Championship! What a fantastic achievement, and an amazing turnaround after being winless in 2025! There was plenty of excitement around our school and another wonderful send-off for Mr Mac, who will sadly be finishing with us at the end of this semester.
A huge thank you to our incredible families and School Council for hosting the annual Mothers’ Day Breakfast and Stall last week. Students arrived ready and eager, coins and notes in hand, to choose their special plant, coffee mug, and perhaps some chocolates (if they had the self-control not to eat them straight away!). It was special to watch so many mums, aunties, nannas, and key mother figures share breakfast together in the quadrangle. I felt proud to be part of this important tradition of honouring the women who mean so much to our children and our community. My sincere thanks to everyone who donated, helped, and attended and to Bec Robinson, who took charge of most of the work and did such a fantastic job of it! I also want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible role models who work within our school many of whom are mums themselves — and who pour so much of their time and heart into our young people each day. They are wonderful humans, and we are very lucky to have them!
This fortnight has also seen: The dentist and her helpers visiting to apply fluoride treatments and speak with students about their important work in the community.
Hector the Cat making several very popular cameo appearances at whole school assembly, at the preschool, and at our Walk to School Day celebrations. A big thank you to Mike and the team at Nhulunbuy Corporation for making Walk to School Day such a fun way to start the morning. It was once again very well attended by students, staff and families!
On Monday, Musica Viva performed for our students, putting on a show that was truly out of this galaxy. Literally. There were sound effects, music, jokes, and more than a little bit of random cosmic wonder.
It has been a huge couple of weeks filled with fun, the arts, sport, and meaningful connection with our wider community and I thank everyone for going over and above to pull it together at such a busy time of year.
