SoLaR Battalion Writing Units

Mrs Warren and I have been attending writing unit workshop days at South Windsor PS. On these days we collaborate across the Hawkesbury with executive teachers and teachers who have a passion for writing. We have been busy creating next term's writing units. This is something I am truly excited about. Based on the writing that our students have been producing, I know this has been time well spent. We have been teaching through schema building in the first instance and then using blanks as a scaffold for infants and blocks as a scaffold for writing. Then theme of these units is heavily threaded through our reading and morning routine lessons as well.

Term 2 Calendar

Spotlight on C2

C2 have been learning about Area and Perimeter. We were fortunate enough to be loaned a STEM kit from the department of education for us to use for the Term. The kit came with electric mini cars and special pads that directed the car in a certain direction.

Students were challenged to use their problem solving skills to make shapes with a certain area and perimeter, which they measured with meter rulers.

C2 students loved working together in small groups to win class challenges.
