Rozelle is a place where Aboriginal children learned, played and celebrated their culture for thousands of years on this beautiful, natural land. As we learn, play and celebrate together on this land, we honour the Wangal people of the Eora nation and pay our respects to elders both past, present and emerging.
TERM ONE… IT'S A WRAP!
As we reach the end of Term One, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the many achievements we have accomplished so far this year.
This year began with great enthusiasm, as we welcomed 75 kindergarten students and 40 preschool children to our school community. It was great to have 21 classes formed by Day Three, ensuring that our students were settled and ready for an exciting year ahead.
Although the weather was not on our side, our successful swimming carnival was a highlight, showcasing the talent and dedication of our students, with brothers Charlie and Alfie K qualifying for state levels. This achievement is a testament to their hard work and commitment.
In the first weeks of term, we commenced our programs designed to support and extend learning for all students, ensuring that each child is provided with opportunities to thrive academically and creatively. Our "Meet the Teacher" evenings were well attended, building connections between families and school.
Our comprehensive Dance, Music, and Visual Art programs for all students commenced this term and they have quickly become a highlight of the week for many of our students. These programs are designed to foster creativity, self-expression, and a love for the arts, providing students with the opportunity to explore their talents,
Our extracurricular programs continue to thrive, featuring choirs, dance groups, a stage three debating squad and two bands that rehearse before school and at lunchtime. The bands have been performing at assemblies, and sound fantastic, showcasing the talent of our students. Furthermore, our Green Team is up and running, actively seeking ways to improve sustainable practices across the school. They were even featured on Channel Ten as part of ‘Clean Up Australia Day’.
Additionally, our Year 6 students embarked on an exciting excursion to Canberra, while Year 5 enjoyed their camp at Stanwell Tops. Our 10-day swimming scheme for Years 2 and 3 has been a successful initiative, promoting water safety and skills among our younger students. All these initiatives provided invaluable learning experiences outside the classroom.
Today, we concluded the term with our annual Easter Hat Parade, a celebration that brought our community together. It even got a mention on ABC radio this morning!
None of these accomplishments would be possible without the fantastic teamwork and commitment of our teaching and administration staff. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and grateful for the support of our parents and community.
As we head into the Easter break, I would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter! I look forward to welcoming everyone back for an exciting Term Two!
