Parent/Teacher discussions have been occurring over the last two weeks. Thank you for making time to speak with your child’s teacher about their progress and their learning. If you missed the opportunity, please reach out to the class teacher directly to negotiate a time for a conversation.
The hype is building for the colour run that is happening at the end of the term. Mr Ryall has been speaking with children and keeping us updated as to fundraising progress. Keep an eye out on Audiri for updates and special activities leading up to the big day.
Thank you all for the efforts for book week this year. The students all looked fantastic, and it was I know there was lots of effort put in by families to make the day happen. We had a fabulous week celebrating children’s literature and enjoying learning activities based on much loved books.
On Wednesday last week, we welcomed 10 preservice teachers from UniSA to Dernancourt School. The preservice teachers will be supporting in J2, J3, J4, J5 and P2 on Wednesday’s this term, and for Weeks 1, 2 and 3 of Term 4. Towards the end of the term, preservice teachers will also be in P3, P10, P12 and P14. This will provide them with an opportunity to experience classroom life and practice and develop their teaching skills whilst being supported by our staff.
Thank you for your support of our recent Pupil Free Day. Teachers and SSOs worked together over the day to learn about curriculum, review some learning on reading and continue our learning about mental health and wellbeing. There are only a handful of days across the year that we are all able to work together as a whole staff, and we enjoy the opportunity to learn together.

After School Supervision
It is great to see that we have many students and families using the Kiss and Drop on Parsons Road after school each day. We ask that all students who are being picked up from this area to please wait under the big tree, on the grass. We encourage students to wait patiently and not wander off from this area to play handball or other games while they are waiting. This is to ensure we know where all students are and can provide supervision and maintain safety.
Families are welcome to stay after school for a play, but it is important that you are able to see and supervise your students at all times.
Please note that OSHC uses the Primary playground between 3:30 and 4:00pm, and the Early Years playground between 4:00pm and 5:00pm. To assist with our duty of care commitments, we would appreciate if families could please use the alternative playground during those periods.
Please can you speak with your students about this and we thank you for your cooperation and support.
